sorry for the vagueness, i was thinking of tools like NirSoft's hashmyfiles or voidtools Everything. general conveniences that can be neat to have around but the average user might not know exist! i'm curious if there's anything more like that out there.
good answers though, overall. things are complicated nowadays, but the best way to spend time is by having fun, after all. "enjoy life and JUMP in the air", as a obscure reference would put it. i think people really gotta encourage eachother to persevere.
Ahh, I see now. This is mostly going to be a list of tools for Windows, but here goes:
- Icaros - Helps generate media thumbnails for lesser known file formats. Must activate first.
- WizTree - Helps identify large files, folders, and duplicate files.
- WinCDEmu - Useful for mounting and creating ISO files, especially with optical drives being phased out.
- Macrium Reflect (Trialware) - Create backups. Clone your drive.
I presume that 7-Zip is common knowledge by now, but it does have a right-click context menu option to look up file hashes as well, though it probably isn't as fast as HashMyFiles.
And yeah, it'd be great if people would be a bit more positive overall. Being around perpetual downers just gets tiresome, even if I do find myself guilty of this sometimes.
