After playing/reading things like AA and Umineko, especially the former, do you often find yourself sincerely trying to think through and puzzle out mysteries in other stories?

Definitely! Though it sometimes depends on the tone, I guess. If I get the sense that a story would prefer me to go along with the ride, I might not think about it as hard, but if it's a mystery story especially, you can bet I'm tinkering around in my brain.
