Thank you so much for umineko Fridays. They're honestly such a blast and I wouldn't have progressed so far in umineko without them! Right now, I'm on your episode 4 finale video!

Heya - really wanna tune into your Umineko streams but I haven't played it yet - I tried Higurashi and it was really, really good but had to stop for a bit bc of how disturbing it got - should I finish it before starting Umineko?

You can, but you don't have to! They're completely separate stories that are in conversation with one another thematically, in some ways. Higurashi will let you see how that conversation develops, but storywise, it won't really be required.

You mentioned a few months back that you hope to do a video/video series on American Mcgees Alice games, has that opinion changed at all, or are you still hopeful that one day it'll happen?

Well, it wasn't really so much of a concrete plan, just a gesture that I'd like to cover it someday, haha. I'm sure I probably will eventually! But I don't have anything in particular nailed down.

How does it feel streaming semi regularly to regularly for about a year? Does it feel different than your vids which are recorded and edited?

It's extremely different, yeah. Streaming comes a bit less naturally to me, because I feel I'm at my most articulated and on point when I have time to consider my thoughts, BUT I do feel like I've also gotten a lot better of a grasp of streaming over time.

I have a lot of fun with it! It provides me an opportunity to both unwind and exercise my ~talents~ in a way I think is far less of a constant pressure on me. Interacting with viewers in real-time is also very fun, and cultivating a bit of a group dynamic where everybody's contributing to a discussion is very rewarding.

Hey Marcie! I still watch your Silent Hill video often and I don’t remember if I’m forgetting whether you’ve answered this or not but, are there other horror series or stories that you’re interested in? What are some of the big ones?

Quite a lot, actually! It's one of my favorite genres. Some other big favorites are Slenderverse series', Signalis, Scream, Red Candle's stuff, Puppet Combo's stuff, Imscared, .flow, etc. etc.

Eeey whats up? was wondering if you will ever cover persona (any of the games/ anime adaptations) on the channel? and, what are your thoughts on Persona 3: Reload?
- From Ryugu/ Elster/ idk anymore

Probably! Also I like a lot of the updates in P3R, but I'll always prefer the overall vibe/aesthetic of the original game, personally.

Hello! I just want to say that your Ace Attorney retrospective videos was my true introduction to the franchise and I'm really grateful for it! I got into AA around the time I was at one of my lowest points mentally and being part of the AA fandom and making new friends in this space had helped me a lot and my healing journey would've been much longer if I did not stumbled upon your videos and listen to the like white noise while I try to sleep lol. Thank you so much.

Glad to hear and to help! AA's a wonderful series, and if I can help anyone get into it through my stuff, that's a job well done in my book.

Hey Marcie! Since I don’t know how monetisation on youtube works, do you receive anything for the people that watch your live streams later? I have been catching up with Umineko so I would like to know!

Most streams have monetization enabled, yes! The exceptions are when a copyrighted song is used. Vods 11, 12, 16, and 18 have their monetization disabled. The rest are fine (so far) though!

If you ever feel like it, I'd love to see you do a deep dive on everything the umineko anime does wrong

Maybe, but I think it'd just be an exercise in misery tbh. I'd prefer not to even waste my time rewatching it, lol.

Have you ever dyed your hair? If not what color would you want?

Yup! I've dyed it a very warm red before. If I were to dye it again, it'd probably be something along those lines. I don't think cooler/brighter colors work very well on me.

I read somewhere that "filler" is so important for characterization and the like, and I feel that's displayed the best with umineko. It takes 7 hours for the main plot to roll, but each of those hours counts! I remember jumping in on the 4 hour mark after viewing the first 30 minutes and having no idea who anyone was. Now when watching those 7 hours back to back, I not only know all the characters, but the unique family dynamics/hierarchy

Absolutely. It's good tone-setting, too. It's the reason why, despite having a marginally better adaptation than Umineko's, I'd argue the Higurashi anime is just as bad in some ways. So much of the slice of life and character building is cut, and what people don't realize about why that's so important is that if the story is going to ask you to deeply invest in these characters, enough to care about what happens to them and why, you need to be able to actually invest in them and their relationships. Flat characters do not make for compelling drama.

im not sure if youve played the latter but do you have any series recommendations of things similar in tone to umineko (+higu), aa, and zero escape? i dont know if i can explain how the vibes feel cohesive but a meta mystery with quirky characters with deep relationships and old fashioned vibe and a somewhat dark tone and a fun romance. ive been searching forever but nothing scratches the same itch. no worries if not :3

Not sure it quite qualifies in every regard, but I'd highly recommend watching/reading Detective Conan if you haven't!

After playing/reading things like AA and Umineko, especially the former, do you often find yourself sincerely trying to think through and puzzle out mysteries in other stories?

Definitely! Though it sometimes depends on the tone, I guess. If I get the sense that a story would prefer me to go along with the ride, I might not think about it as hard, but if it's a mystery story especially, you can bet I'm tinkering around in my brain.

Yeah, absolutely. That's one of the things I love Ryukishi's writing for. It can be tough to see some of these things so realistically depicted, of course, but he does so with so much understanding and empathy that it's genuinely refreshing to me despite that.
