My Gekko hc is that he doesn't swear bc he doesn't want his buddies to learn bad words. Even when he's not around his crew he still doesn't swear just so he won't accidentally let one slip when they're in earshot again. Also I don't think his buddies really listen to other people so someone else swearing doesn't bother them and Gekko doesn't pay attention to it to teach the little guys to do the same. I think he's very protective of his crew and it genuinely hurts his feelings when people don't like them/find them annoying etc. bc they're almost like an extension of him at this point :')
Oh geez it's so hilarious because even though I don't think Gekko swears like a sailor, he might say damn or shit when something especially bad or annoying happens 😭 but I only say this because of his voicelines - in reality I could totally see him as someone who doesn't say bad words so that he doesn't influence his crew because goodness knows they pick up on a lot of his behaviors/traits. They're very connected like you said. And he was so serious in the voicemail to Brim about Deadlock trying to lock them up. He doesn't play about his crew at all.
