Is it alright to ask how Ruben got his arm amputated?

darcy -- "It was honestly just a typical "kid broke his arm" deal, from climbing or biking or whatever, except over time it just wouldn't heal correctly and was causing a lot of pain and frustration for him. So at some point they realized it would be the better option to amputate it since it was ending up worse than it was when he first broke it. He was generally a very chilled out kid, he didn't really give a fuck hahaha. He's always liked to challenge himself, even as a little kid, hence how he got there in the first place."

that was how it always felt for him. what other people think of ruben isnt much of a priority for him. it does get harder as he gets older though, especially when his chronic pain catches up with him. he begins to feel something akin to frustration, i imagine, when he just cant do certain things for his daughters. april is able to pick up on a lot of what hes experiencing, and is really quick to try and impress him. they really take care of each other, especially as they grow older
