that was how it always felt for him. what other people think of ruben isnt much of a priority for him. it does get harder as he gets older though, especially when his chronic pain catches up with him. he begins to feel something akin to frustration, i imagine, when he just cant do certain things for his daughters. april is able to pick up on a lot of what hes experiencing, and is really quick to try and impress him. they really take care of each other, especially as they grow older
