I can't get Umitaki out of my head. They look so good together. I really hope this is the path that the MyGO members find out about what Sakiko and Mutsumi are up to because it will give an opportunity for both some Taki-focused storytelling as well as open up the hyper competent stoic Umiri. Am I hopeless?
I understand that "look so good together" part quite well. There's something aesthetically pleasing about putting them next to each other. I'm sure that's a factor in their popularity.
But it's hard to tell what their role will be exactly. They're currently the cross-MyGo/Mujica pair with the "closest" connection, but will that last when Taki finds out about Ave Mujica?
Umiri seemed dead set on that life-long commitment to Avemuji, but that could lead her to a conflict with Taki. We know that Taki will meet Saki again at one point (and it probably won't be so peaceful), so what if Umiri had to pick a side? Maybe that's how we get past the stoic Umiri...
(And I'm not sure how literally am I supposed to interpret the Avemuji lore bits, but Timoris was excited about the destruction of the old world, so maybe we already know Umiri's choice..)
But conflict or not, I expect them to share a lot of scenes. I think Uika will be the one leading the investigation on Sakiko, so 1-B might become more central to the plot.
At Tsukinomori, Soyo cut ties with Mutsumi. At Haneoka, Sakiko is self-isolating. But at Hanajo, things are at least no as dire (yet).
So you're not hopeless I'd say, but don't let your guard down. Soyo and Mutsumi started out as the ex-Crychic with the "closest" relationship and we all know how that ended.
This might not be part of the question but I'll add it anyway:
The thing with Umiri is that we actually know very little about her. We don't know how or when she first met Taki. Or what did Sakiko tell her when recruiting her. I want to see those two points at least.
As for Taki we do have glimpses of her past but we don't know the details yet. We also don't know what she thinks of Umiri exactly. Taki seems to respect her and even lowers her guard around her, but how important is she actually in Taki's life? As important as Tomori is most likely out of the question, but comparable to the other Mygo members maybe?
I really want to know more about them. And after all the drama is settled, I look forward to more of their classroom banters.
