Hm, I'm going through scenarios here: weddings, housewarmings, it was specifically requested/added to a registry/wishlist, the recipient loves to cook , outside of those scenarios I'm not getting anybody a cutting board UNLESS there was something undeniably cool/unique about it or has a connection to the recipient (like a star wars cutting board for a huge star wars fan or whatever) anyway that was a lot to say that I don't know and maybe there is no deeper meaning to it? Maybe they had no idea what to get and just swing wildly? Maybe they genuinely thought it was a good idea? Hey I know I want one of those portable ice nugget maker so I can have those nuggets at home like they have at the restaurants, but when I say I want one people think I'm joking about it and never take it seriously so I'm going to have to buy it myself 😭
