Did you know: 1895 curfew: don’t beat your wife between the hours of 10pm and 7am because it’s too noisy! I didn't!!

did you ever hear the story of how the phrase 'rule of thumb' came from a law that you couldn't beat your wife with anything wider than your thumb? I don't even know if it's true, but the fact that it's even plausible enough to have to research it is pretty dark
