Maybe he can pretend to be somoene's friend like :'D just to make connections bc of his job but its rare for Kingston to connect to people because he is an asshole he doesn't feel the need to be overly friendly if it doesn't benefit him. ( at least in the story he's in, for friend interactions I'm more willing to relax it a bit askjfd)

Ruth: She really would try to make friends but being isolated for a large chunk of her life and having v little contact with peers her age means she's not the best at understanding... current trends/memes and other stuff people can relate to easily so she feels a bit alienated when someone makes a reference she doesn't understand.
