I started this ask with something in mind but I kinda derailed lmao

How did we get equating "corrective rxpe" to "sometimes i ship bd and kzh"?

Seriously, people, read yourselves, how is it the same. It is not. How is it even similar? /gen

Yes, we live in a society where we are still opressed and it's nice and even good for society to see more sexually diverse characters in games and other media... but we as fans doing silly AUs in between us and heheing about it is not erasing that. By doing those thought excersises we are not negating their /implied/ (coded) canon sexualities when we muster some mmmm what if lyl and hthm sex. Like I can't plausibly imagine hkvh in canon dating anyone else, but then I talk with some friends and we go what if no kvh, what if cn, what if both girls and tghnr what if dh, what if lyl... how would that happen what would need to happen for that character to be like that or act like that? Amd we go ham with it, it is fun. Is some sort of character study at this point.

From my perspective is like that one paradigm of the boat, how many pieces can we change until the boat changes so fundamentally that is not longer the same boat but rather other boat with the same name. Or what if we change the name but the pieces are the same.

(I see no hard since these characters are fiction, if they were irl people then... oh big that's another can of worms.

Sexuality is not a fixed thing. And i dont only mean it in a "labels can change" I mean it also in the way that why are we queer is not clear, be it a combination of bio, social and psych stuff that happens (gender and sexuality had been a topic of discussion from both sides, homophobes trying to proce we are an abomination and lgbtqai+ people trying ro prove we deserve to exist bcause we are natural, 100% organic). Therefore we struggle a lot in fighting the homophobes and we kinda need the ultimate weapon to justify our existence, that baby we were born this way and I've known since childhood and that will stay forever because it really is not a phase. So maybe that's why some of us are defensive on fixed and are almost ontologic about this stuff. Irl examples are people recently somehow obsessed with the idea of "a true lesbian" being only that if you're a gold star lesbian or a gal that never even considered finding a guy cute. So i think this essentialism is showing up in fandom spaces as some wound bleeding everywhere it exists. So in our spaces we have people alleging "x character is this sexuality since birth and forever and in Every AU" What if their upbringing change in my headcanon, what if whatever genetic thing that makes us gay change? That shit is so random. Would we still be us?

I got existential writing this ask give me a fucking second.

Other explanation I give to this situation, is that our need for representation is so severe we lash out at people that is not the right people to lash out to. As it happens in this hellsite.

Finally, people need to know that liking or disliking smt doesn't need a moral standpoint. Not liking laylatham or beizuha is ok, is reasonable even considering their canon coding, characteristics and behavior but don't come to a page that plays with characters as food for thought and demand representation. From my pov you're just using the cause of representation to try to censor fic writers, artist and random fandom people from expressing their ramblings thay do not harm.
I advice you as someone wha has been in this site since 13 yo and now I'm on the second half of my 20. Do the thing and mute and block, roll your eyes and say "ugh a stupid beizuha shipper", block and leave the space that is clearly not for you.

I rambled a lot so sorry 😞 hope you're doing well. Hope we can heal from all of this.

Since I first started my twt page and (even before that in other socials) I always tried to keep it a safe space for people who ship rarepairs or switch dynamics or pairing that rest of the fandom deems controversial, I even did an interactive tweet asking people to share their rarepairs for me to rate and haven't said a single bad thing about any of those
It's been my policy to ship and let ship for forever, I'm open to possibilities and ideas people come up with, and it brings me joy to see people being excited when their little idea who they haven't had anyone to share with got recognized and payed attention to
I wish everyone had a mindset like that or if they can't handle something then have a decency to ignore it, block and move past, but unfortunately that's not how the world works so after a year and a half on Twitter it finally got to me
But at the end of the day, people get upset and I don't want anyone to feel hurt on any side (which is unrealistic but oh well) so I'm doing my best to handle it, to keep my ideal while also not bring discomfort to people who happened to pass by them
I see how their opinion was shaped and why they think like they do, I believe their experience and hurt is valid
I wish we all could deal with stuff like that in more civil way tho, I can't keep up, and start over explaining, while trying to understand and be respectful and I ask questions to understand them better, but yeah, it is what it is, I can't expect the same in return especially from people who feel hurt by me, I'm glad still that some, a small percent, reached out with genuine questions and with intention to have an adequate convo
