fontaine polycule but neuvifuri and wriofuri fuck nasty and are in love with each other NON platonically. everyone else can stay as it is <3
I accept that, anything works really nods, it's just hard for me to imagine some characters have sex (exactly these three in any combination really, for some reason 😩 what a coincidence, but I love the nsfw arts regardless when well done)
Anyway, neuvifuriwrio polycule (I actually have an art of that)
you being friendly with a person who calls another a facist because they found how you spoke about lesbians is truly all i need to know about you 😭😭😭 you are the company you keep, and you’re happy to keep an echo chamber of people who would agree with you rather than actually thinking and reflecting on the real reason people were ever upset. what a waste of time for everyone who tried to explain to you calmly.
(off your last answer) that’s what people are getting at though. it’s strange to lesbians, as they’ve communicated to you, that you go “yes beidou IS a lesbian!!” and then you follow with “99% of the time only!” it comes across as strange because if you think x character is “only gay/lesbian/etc 99% of the time”.. then is the result not just: you don’t think they’re gay/lesbian/etc at all?
though i do believe it’s different to draw equivalences between characters of any media to people, it would be like someone saying to you: you’re bi and polyamorous yes!! but actually 10% of the time, to me, you’re straight and monogamous :) which is both untrue and strange at the same time.
it’s to say that those two statements cannot coexist. someone can’t be queer only 10%/50%/99% of the time. i do honestly think it would be better for you to just say you believe she’s bi, because if you’re worried that you’re erasing lesbian rep with that statement, you’ve already erased with the rhetoric of: she is lesbian EXCEPT for that 1% when i like her with a man. it achieves the same goal.
like people have said, enjoy your ships and pairings, it doesn’t ultimately matter who is with who, they’re just characters, right? but be mindful of your rhetoric and how it comes off. perhaps your intent was never to upset anyone, but the impact/reception was just that, people were upset and weirded out, and still are with how you continue to hold this conversation.
That doesn't mean she isn't fully lesbian
That means she's 100% lesbian in all aus where she is
She's 100% bi/unlabeled in ones where she isn't
"you’re bi and polyamorous yes!! but actually 10% of the time, to me, you’re straight and monogamous :) " if people said that to a real person I would be heavily perplexed, but if they said that about a fictional character I wouldn't mind at all, as bi and poly
But I figured that lesbians would mind that, so
I said already I won't post any aus like that, I'd rather value real people
I only continue the conversation to understand people better and trying to do that as calm as possible
i’m sorry but i read that alhaitham/layla tweet and giggled out loud bc alhaitham WOULD NOT eat anyone’s pussy if it’s not attached to kaveh. how someone can have an account dedicated to a character and not understand surface level stuff is astounding 😭
i just feel, to sum everything up, is that you aren’t seeing eye to eye with what people have been telling you. the critique has never been about rare pairs, or multi ships, or anything like that. everyone is free to ship any character with another, that’s fine! no one cares if you ship beidou and kazuha (even if it’s just one AU, instance, “platonic” or not, etc), or alhaitham with layla. if you like those pairings, then keep enjoying them.
the issue was always saying you believe beidou is a lesbian and alhaitham as gay; you even say those are their canon (implied) sexualities. in any instance, don’t you think it’s strange to say: yes beidou is a lesbian EXCEPT in this one au where she’s with kazuha. yes! alhaitham is gay EXCEPT when i hc him eaiting layla out.
these characters are clearly not lesbian or gay if they’re paired that way? you keep saying that if you were to deny that they’re implied lesbian/gay by just hc-ing them as bi, then you’d be erasing rep. but frankly, what you’re doing is ultimately erasing rep either way. if you just call them by, then people have nothing to disagree or critique on, feel free to ship them with whichever other character ever.
and lastly, the equivalencies you’ve made about changing characters’ eye color, for example, is just not valid. no one is who they are because of eye or hair color, but sexuality plays a huge part of someone’s character.
instead of doubling down and insisting that you’re going about this the right way, perhaps change your perspective. saying “well i hurt people i guess” but continuing with your rhetoric/unchanging pov achieves nothing.
I'm honestly so tired of repeating the same thing
I am not keeping a character's sexuality constant throughout aus
Some people prefer to keep it the same as in original source, I don't have any preference regarding this matter
While most times I stick to canon (like pairing Alhaitham with Kaveh 99% of times), sometimes I don't stick to canon
I already said I won't post my aus that contradict canon, I'm uncomfortable doing so when it upsets people
Hi hello the Ship of Theseus paradigm anon here heh
I just re-read what I sent and I realized that at the end it might sound like I am talking to you but tbh I was talking to that specific set of people being obtuse after trying to reason abojt why they were so set on and unwavering about certain stuff.
Also the typos I'm so sorry 😞
I am sorry too about how everything you do, either is bickering with friends or trying to bring light to the situation between friends is being weaponized against you and not even bother to read all your replies about learning and even compromising to not post about lesbian characters in aus where they are not to avoid the erasure of rep problem. These people really are set into making you the Lesbophobe of the Day.
Sending you hugs!
Private account anon again slipping through the mud to reassure you that wanting to write your idea is not will ill intentions. I'm hella queer. Your idea just happened to tickle my brain and I already wanted to write something with it before everyone lost their marbles haha by out of spite, I mean out of spite for the people who got vicious and mean towards you. I hope that I'm making sense!!
"Please tell me I'm genuinely asking
If there's any character in any fandom that you hc as, for example, asexual
Would you keep them asexual in all your aus/art/fics/conversations?"
...yes? you keep trying to equate wanting someone you consider a lesbian to fuck men with other identities and the examples are always horrible. Let me ask you - how would you go out of your way to erase canon asexuality in a fanfiction? Would you have them have sex? Asexual people can and often do have sex with their partners. I would consider it extremely weird if you went out of your way to make an au where a character you consider canonically asexual goes out of their way to declare that they are NOT asexual. It would make you look very weird.
Something you and all the people running blindly to defend you seem to be missing is that nobody is trying to criticize you for having a headcanon, in fact people have been trying to tell you that calling Beidou wlw in your hc would be FINE it's the fact that you're insisting you see this character as a lesbian in canon and in your mind yet you like to imagine her fucking men. That is WEIRD. Nobody cares that you ship her with Kazuha sometimes, it's the way that you keep saying you consider her a lesbian but every so often you want to ~fix that when you want to see her with a man.
I don't want to 'fix' anything, I haven't even ever mentioned them fucking or any nsfw, I refered to them always as platonic
And yes, I am asexual too, sometimes I make an au where Alhaitham is asexual, sometimes I make an au where he isn't, sometimes, I wouldn't mind anyone taking asexual character for their own au and making it asexual
If they imply being asexual is wrong and that's why they do that, I wouldn't support it, otherwise people can hc whatever they won't
I don't know how else to explain that people can create different relationships between characters in different aus and not stick to one thing
I can make up an au with platonic haikaveh, in the next one make them poly, in another they are asexuals both, I next I switch it up and they are two bisexual women
It's alternative universes, nobody is fixing anything or trying to change canon or likes lesbians fucking men
If there's an au where woman is with a man, she's not a lesbian
"Nobody cares you ship her with Kazuha sometimes" well that's what happened, I said I do that from time to time and worded it wrong now for some reason everyone thinks I don't want her to be lesbian and want to change that, no I don't
How else you imagine me or anyone shipping this ship, that no one would care about, without making her not lesbian? /Gen
I see it like, you're fine to ship them but she must always stay lesbian? It is literally impossible 🥲
holy shit why are people being so insane to you. be good OP hope you have a nice day
do you not understand how saying offensive things entirely separate from your ship and then summarizing it as "wow these people are sooooo angry that I wanted a man to have pussy :/" is incredibly dismissive of the real things you're being criticized for? this could've been over a long time ago if you'd stop fuelling the fire and if you and your friends stopped trying to rewrite WHY you're getting criticisms to try and make anyone talking to you about it seem irrational. ive been trying to ignore this but even this morning there's now a bunch of writers vagueposting about how "jumping people for ships" is wrong clearly referencing what's going on with you when that's literally NOT what you are being criticized for and that narrative reshaping is insanely disingenuous
I know I'm being criticized for a wrongly worded post about Beidou being a lesbian, that people didn't look into further and now it's too late to fix it explain, I admitted it many times
Beside that, sorry for trying to keep the pressure down with the joke about how the whole thing started, idk, because it did started with a harmless post about Alhaitham having a pussy and people breaking friendships because of it for some reason
I'm trying to stay as neutral as possible and not derail into madness, even if I made a mistake and admitted it, dealing with the backlash is still mentally tiring
Omg i can't shut up about this sorry but!!!
Saying "you can do that with literally any other character" is so wrong because nobody has that sort of dynamic, history, and interactions with thay other character. Maybe in canon the feelings don't flourish because she is romantically involved already with another person in canon but what if she wasn't. What if I headcanon beidou as bi and my interpretation of canon is that she is bi but I don't ship her with Kazuma because captain beidou has been playing chess with ningguang already and like the guy is brave and etc but her heart is already on the jade chamber (as it should)
(I am open to read why would she be a leabian tho because I couldve missed something and the discussions of cosing characterization are amazing to me, very interesting even if they stray from my own :p got a little cheeky there sorry)
There are a lot of lesbian implications especially for cn audience and they are heavily implied, there are many great threads about it that go into details! There's a lot to read and dive into
I mean I'm bi, so of course I tend to lean onto like bi characters more or project, but personally, canon beiguang are lesbians to me
you keep trying to distinguish yourself from other people who you say you consider problematic for "writing lesbians as bi or straight" except you're literally doing the exact same thing and trying to dress it up, the action is still the exact same. this wouldn't even be an issue if you weren't so insistent on saying you THINK SHES A LESBIAN instead of wlw, its genuinely starting to sound like you have some type of conversion kink.
not to mention your mutuals saying weird shit about how fictional representation doesn't matter to defend you and you not correcting that. some of your mutuals have been saying extremely dismissive things to defend you and you just sit there and thank them, yet you don't want people to find you homophobic lmfao you've been playing victim for days and once again it's the mean lesbians who get backlash despite you saying actually offensive things
Please tell me I'm genuinely asking
If there's any character in any fandom that you hc as, for example, asexual
Would you keep them asexual in all your aus/art/fics/conversations? If yes, I get that, many people are doing the same, but not me, I already said many times she is canonically lesbian, me saying she's bi or wlw at all instances would be an erasure
She is a lesbian in canon, period
I prefer her character to stay a lesbian in most my aus and hcs, period
For one au, one, I say what if she was bi
I don't keep characters stagnant in their sexuality throughout aus, sometimes
you keep saying you don't want to hurt or offend people and then you're in your replies to your dickriding friends like "this only started because I wanted to let alhaitham have pussy :(" despite there being multiple people telling you the things youve been saying are weird and lesbophobic not to even touch on the ableism of saying it's okay to want to "explore an au" where a character with a disability has it removed so they can be "normal" for your fanfiction.
It did start from me making a laytham post, I answered their question directly
I said my post was worded badly and I take the blame for it
I am autistic, if a want to explore an au where character is not one, or where the other will be, I have this right, it's not to make them 'normal', I don't consider autism something bad, and I said it was a bad example, I made it because it's what close to me
"I would frown upon people making lesbian characters straight or bi just in spite of them being lesbians or to deny their lesbianism all together" this is such a hilarious thing for you to say when you've got someone in here literally offering to write you spite fanfic and they actually said they'd be writing it out of spite and you're happy about it
I started this ask with something in mind but I kinda derailed lmao
How did we get equating "corrective rxpe" to "sometimes i ship bd and kzh"?
Seriously, people, read yourselves, how is it the same. It is not. How is it even similar? /gen
Yes, we live in a society where we are still opressed and it's nice and even good for society to see more sexually diverse characters in games and other media... but we as fans doing silly AUs in between us and heheing about it is not erasing that. By doing those thought excersises we are not negating their /implied/ (coded) canon sexualities when we muster some mmmm what if lyl and hthm sex. Like I can't plausibly imagine hkvh in canon dating anyone else, but then I talk with some friends and we go what if no kvh, what if cn, what if both girls and tghnr what if dh, what if lyl... how would that happen what would need to happen for that character to be like that or act like that? Amd we go ham with it, it is fun. Is some sort of character study at this point.
From my perspective is like that one paradigm of the boat, how many pieces can we change until the boat changes so fundamentally that is not longer the same boat but rather other boat with the same name. Or what if we change the name but the pieces are the same.
(I see no hard since these characters are fiction, if they were irl people then... oh big that's another can of worms.
Sexuality is not a fixed thing. And i dont only mean it in a "labels can change" I mean it also in the way that why are we queer is not clear, be it a combination of bio, social and psych stuff that happens (gender and sexuality had been a topic of discussion from both sides, homophobes trying to proce we are an abomination and lgbtqai+ people trying ro prove we deserve to exist bcause we are natural, 100% organic). Therefore we struggle a lot in fighting the homophobes and we kinda need the ultimate weapon to justify our existence, that baby we were born this way and I've known since childhood and that will stay forever because it really is not a phase. So maybe that's why some of us are defensive on fixed and are almost ontologic about this stuff. Irl examples are people recently somehow obsessed with the idea of "a true lesbian" being only that if you're a gold star lesbian or a gal that never even considered finding a guy cute. So i think this essentialism is showing up in fandom spaces as some wound bleeding everywhere it exists. So in our spaces we have people alleging "x character is this sexuality since birth and forever and in Every AU" What if their upbringing change in my headcanon, what if whatever genetic thing that makes us gay change? That shit is so random. Would we still be us?
I got existential writing this ask give me a fucking second.
Other explanation I give to this situation, is that our need for representation is so severe we lash out at people that is not the right people to lash out to. As it happens in this hellsite.
Finally, people need to know that liking or disliking smt doesn't need a moral standpoint. Not liking laylatham or beizuha is ok, is reasonable even considering their canon coding, characteristics and behavior but don't come to a page that plays with characters as food for thought and demand representation. From my pov you're just using the cause of representation to try to censor fic writers, artist and random fandom people from expressing their ramblings thay do not harm.
I advice you as someone wha has been in this site since 13 yo and now I'm on the second half of my 20. Do the thing and mute and block, roll your eyes and say "ugh a stupid beizuha shipper", block and leave the space that is clearly not for you.
I rambled a lot so sorry 😞 hope you're doing well. Hope we can heal from all of this.
Since I first started my twt page and (even before that in other socials) I always tried to keep it a safe space for people who ship rarepairs or switch dynamics or pairing that rest of the fandom deems controversial, I even did an interactive tweet asking people to share their rarepairs for me to rate and haven't said a single bad thing about any of those
It's been my policy to ship and let ship for forever, I'm open to possibilities and ideas people come up with, and it brings me joy to see people being excited when their little idea who they haven't had anyone to share with got recognized and payed attention to
I wish everyone had a mindset like that or if they can't handle something then have a decency to ignore it, block and move past, but unfortunately that's not how the world works so after a year and a half on Twitter it finally got to me
But at the end of the day, people get upset and I don't want anyone to feel hurt on any side (which is unrealistic but oh well) so I'm doing my best to handle it, to keep my ideal while also not bring discomfort to people who happened to pass by them
I see how their opinion was shaped and why they think like they do, I believe their experience and hurt is valid
I wish we all could deal with stuff like that in more civil way tho, I can't keep up, and start over explaining, while trying to understand and be respectful and I ask questions to understand them better, but yeah, it is what it is, I can't expect the same in return especially from people who feel hurt by me, I'm glad still that some, a small percent, reached out with genuine questions and with intention to have an adequate convo
