(off your last answer) that’s what people are getting at though. it’s strange to lesbians, as they’ve communicated to you, that you go “yes beidou IS a lesbian!!” and then you follow with “99% of the time only!” it comes across as strange because if you think x character is “only gay/lesbian/etc 99% of the time”.. then is the result not just: you don’t think they’re gay/lesbian/etc at all?

though i do believe it’s different to draw equivalences between characters of any media to people, it would be like someone saying to you: you’re bi and polyamorous yes!! but actually 10% of the time, to me, you’re straight and monogamous :) which is both untrue and strange at the same time.

it’s to say that those two statements cannot coexist. someone can’t be queer only 10%/50%/99% of the time. i do honestly think it would be better for you to just say you believe she’s bi, because if you’re worried that you’re erasing lesbian rep with that statement, you’ve already erased with the rhetoric of: she is lesbian EXCEPT for that 1% when i like her with a man. it achieves the same goal.

like people have said, enjoy your ships and pairings, it doesn’t ultimately matter who is with who, they’re just characters, right? but be mindful of your rhetoric and how it comes off. perhaps your intent was never to upset anyone, but the impact/reception was just that, people were upset and weirded out, and still are with how you continue to hold this conversation.
