Why do you hate goody good main riders?
Its not that I hate them, or have always hated them, but lately with post Gaim whenever they come back to this archetype, in particular with Takeru, Emu, and Touma, they just don't make them interesting. They keep making either them too generic, always feeling like cartoonish paragons instead of actual people, constantly giving empty speeches, never put through any kind of challenges or worst case they make them out right Gary Stus, like with Takeru.
And I know I keep referencing Kouta from Gaim, but that's because he felt like a person who struggled, and those struggles helped grow as character.
None of the I characters I listed even came close to matching that because of the reasons I listed.
The only one I think came close to matching Kouta was Ikki from Revice. I would've included Aruto in this if not for Zero One's rushed final arc.
There's a reason I keep saying Shinnosuke, Sento, and Ace are the best post Gaim riders.
They were not only a nice break away from the trope, but they had their own struggles, they felt like people, and had more of realistic perspective on things.
