Because, listen, if Gojo isn't hauntingly possessive of Megumi, I do not want it! I agree that he wouldn't be the type of lover to prohibit Megumi from going out or having friends, BUT, he would be the type of lover who would make it his life mission to show everyone that Megumi is his. And his not subtle, that man has never known subtlety - he's shameless and proud, he'll always have an arm wrapped around Megumi, a hand clinging onto exposed skin, his and Megumi's shadows always melted together no matter where they go. Satoru doesn't like to be away from Megumi; he doesn't enjoy the thought of Megumi being too far away that, if something were to happen, he couldn't make it time. So, he's always a few feet away.
Megumi doesn't often take solo missions, he's too young, too inexperienced, Gojo would argue. But, Megumi was as stubborn as he was, and Gojo would (eventually) relent and give into his blessing's desire to go out on his own. However, he's not completely alone. Not when Gojo is watching meters away, always ready to intervene when necessary, always willing to take Megumi into his arms and away from harms way.

And... eventually he does the same when Megumi goes out with his friends. He hadn't ever felt the need to do so until Yuuta, Yuuji, Kamo, Inumaki and even the girls were so unabashedly interested in Megumi. Clingy, annoying and testing the limits of Satoru's kindness and patience... And it's not that he doesn't trust Megumi.
