what got you into OSM?
The imaginative urge to design OS user interfaces ever since I was 3-4 years old after I bought my first laptop (which had Vista Home Premium on it) I was immediately attached to the Aero user interface (I knew how to read back then so I was able to find my way through) and well, I remember having vivid dreams about a Vista-esque imaginative Vista operating system running on the same laptop for at least 9 years straight, during that time I made some GUI sketches on a tiny sketchbook that I had during the 3rd grade (which was when I also found out about pre-2000 Windows versions)
I always had that same urge within me for a decade, which grew more and more overtime, until finally in until May 2017 when I accidentally bumped into a video by Windows Supporter (a no-longer-existant YouTube channel), I realized one month later that there's a whole group of people working on Operating System Mockups (the term Windows Never Released was more prominent back then though) and well, I tried to see if this whole thing was for me at first, it took me less than a month to finally decide that I would start doing this actively on September of the same year.
I finally got into OSM on that time, however it took me 4 years to establish a firm groundwork of stuff to get into higher-end concepts, and well, now I'm here, almost 7 years after I first discovered OSM by accident.
How would you introduce yourself
Someone who's chasing his dreams and stuff in his mind all the time.
When will you coming back from a osm break
Dunno, honestly.
I've said it's gonna be a month break but I'm not sure.
A note: I'm not in a break right now. The video isn't done yet.
Had to repost from my account:
1. What VSTs do you use to make sounds, for your futuristic mockups?
2. What is your favorite TV Channel? (Since you are from Türkiye, start from Kanal D, ATV, TV8, Show TV, e.t.c.)
3. How did you make the glow and effects for your Neofutur Mockups?
1 - Omnisphere 2 (but I started using Spire too, plus I'm looking forward to improve my sound production skills lately)
2 - Oh, don't even get me started with those local TV channels, I fucking wish I never knew they existed. Never appealing to me, I'm not interested in watching those.
Instead, I used to watch Science Channel and when I was a little kid, I was heavily a Cartoon Network person.
I will admit, I actually checked out Disney Channel (and Disney XD) out of personal curiosity 2 years ago.
Other than that, nah. TV isn't my thing. I don't even stream stuff.
3 - Recently, I started using "Outer Glow" in Photoshop's layer styles for them. I have more control over glows now compared to just additive-blurring everything. Yep, artistic evolution.
Here’s a question for you, Why and how did you know anything about Windows Mockups?
Someone actually asked a similar question before on ALTERNITY
I continuously did this almost every day for 4-5 years now, non-stop, training and improving my skills and creativity
but I keep using my A2484 lol
OK
I still own a Galaxy Note5 (64GB) [SM-N920T]
OK
What did you first making Operating System Mockups?
I always wanted to make graphical user interfaces ever since I was around 5-7 years old, I upgraded from Vista (that was my first main OS) to 7 back then and I was continuously messing around with every single piece of both versions, I started to find interest in technology when I was at the end of 2nd grade and I remember that one night when I was searching startup-shutdown sounds of Windows on YouTube which has led me to the video "All Windows Startup & Shutdown Sounds | Windows 1.0 - 8.1" by Pressy Productions, and it just started to grow up from there (I was in 3rd grade, when I discovered that Windows versions before 2000 existed, my curiosity started to grow from there onwards because I was kinda gaslighted before that).
I remember, out-of-context, writing a random OS name to some random netbook and making stuff like installer screens, the bootscreen and stuff like each stage of the setup process, which actually resurfaced to my mind earlier this year.
I didn't know the existence of Operating System Mockups or even Windows Never Released until 2017, however I remember that at least a month before I actually found out that WNR exists, I started imagining some random post-Windows 10 version named "Windows Titanium" (which ironically had a release date of 2020, a year before Windows 11's release lol), I was still young back then but in my mind, I was REALLY looking for a way to express these thoughts in my head in terms of actual OS concepts. Then, one day, while I was looking for beta versions of Windows XP, I saw this random video "Windows XP History (1998-2000001) + Fake versions" by Windows Supporter, which actually YouTube put into my recommendations at the top of the home page (I was watching on a phone). At first, I was hesitant to click the video, thinking like "Wait, 2000001? Why?", then I opened the video.
I actually knew before discovering OSM/WNR that Longhorn and Whistler builds didn't use these fake sounds, I actually didn't even know about the existence of such stuff until I stumbled upon that video.
That night, and 7 other following nights after it, I remember not being able to sleep as what I've seen so far (I checked out more stuff from people like Windows Supporter, Sowinton Geek and Neptune98) definitely got me engaged too quickly with this, I kept exploring this stuff until the very end of May when I decided "You know what? I want to try too.". That day, I made a choice that brought me to this day, I decided to start making Windows Never Released (Operating System Mockups wasn't a very-known term back then) when the summer break was over, kickstarting my whole journey.
I still absolutely love doing what I'm doing when it comes to Operating System Mockups to this day and I don't want to stop doing it anytime soon, I believe I'm still getting started. This has been what I always dreamed about doing in my free time ever since I was that little kid who was tinkering around Windows 7 in every nitty-gritty detailed that he could think of.
That's all.
What is your favorite dish? I know, randomest question I have ever asked in my entire life.
spaghetti4life
think about the pineapple... what do you see? do you see peace? do you see chaos? what future does the pineapple show you?
I see a fruit that I probably never ate in my life. Nothing more.
1 - Back when I was using the alias "SECTORWIRE CYBERZONE" for a short amount of time
2 - In a random date in May 2017, back when I was doing some research about Whistler builds, I came upon a random video which is a fanmade Windows XP history (the one by Windows Supporter), I instantly started getting attached to the whole thing stuff back then, and now I'm here making Operating System Mockups.
3 - It's Windows XP Aero Edition
1 - Yes.
2 - Not at the moment.
Did You accepted my contribution for your collab?
Who sent this once again
What aesthetic do ya like the most? Personally i like Frutiger Aero; for its own beauty, and the feel it gives.
Lately, I've been into neo-Y2K, but my favorite aesthetic is actually both Frutiger Aero and, I'm not joking, flat design
