Mobrei is so popular it’s refreshing to see somebody with my same opinions. ðŸ˜ðŸ’• But can I be honest, often it’s the reigen in mobrei I can’t get behind. I always see some of his important canon qualities get ignored like his mental strength, resilience, competence & skills. His anxious & depressed moments also get portrayed a lot in a stereotypical woobified way. I think a lot of the time ppl project their own anxiety, insecurities, & desires onto reigen in mobrei & it makes him unrecognizable to me. There’s nothing wrong with doing that ofc but I wish more ppl tried harder to stay true to his canon self. Sooooo if you ever read a mobrei story you like with more ic reigen and mob characterization let me know? 😂

Hmh, I'm often not particularly fond of Reigen either, but with him it's sometimes just a matter of interpretation. Like, I can often see where in canon ppl are drawing from when they write Reigen, but some of the conclusions are simply not for me/different from my own interpretation, or yeah, like you say maybe lacking nuance, but that's not a unique Reigen problem imo (& one I'm surely faulty of myself), while with Mob it's often things I can't explain from canon at all.
Maybe I'm also a bit less harsh on Reigen because I often enough see what the anti side does to him & there he's so much worse off...
There is a MR I think... I might like... But I've only read snippets. I liked those snippets. But I'm really hesitant to get into ongoing long fics of any kind because I always end up with something that makes me drop them after all. (Regardless of ship or dynamic. Literally, there is one single multichap I have followed & NOT dropped, but it's not finished so who knows what will happen.)
Maybe it was also too much to say I didn't really love any MR so far. More true is, I loved a few MR fics up until they fucked, then they often seem like different ppl and I nope out. (But yeah, again, RM has some reoccuring 'issues' all the same especially with nsfw, too - Reigen too sexy, Mob without agency etc - I'm just less sensitive to those & that's on me.)
Still agree that nsfw aside, RM is more canon-oriented, though.
Anyway, free to receive MR recs as well!
I won't comment on specific works, though, but I'll def check them out. Despite what it probably seems like, I want to like MR y'know...
