I just want to say that I understand wanting to limit how many contributors you have but based on how many applications you received and how many you wound up accepting seems wildly out of proportion and kind of sad honestly. I would have assumed you wanted to make the zine as big and diverse as possible.

Hey nonny, I'd like to explain a little more about how and why our numbers worked out the way they did.

We absolutely did try to make the zine as diverse as possible in regards to both fandoms and having many contributors, but the reality is that when a product is going to physical print, it's a necessity to put a cap on the size because the bigger it gets, the more it costs to make, and the more it costs to buy. As the price goes up, it becomes affordable for fewer people, which in turn makes it less likely that you'll sell enough to see the project through to begin with. Thus, the cap on contributors, however high, is necessary.

The reason we have a high number of accepted contributors, despite having to still put a cap on that number, is that we have a SFW zine, a NSFW zine, a mini zine, and several merch items, which offer a large cumulative number of contributor spots. Most of the time, zines are more relaxed about doubling up on contributor roles and pieces because the application numbers make that a prudent decision. Because we received so many wonderful applications, we specifically chose to avoid doubling up wherever possible in order to offer as many contributor spots as we could. The enthusiasm for this project has been overwhelming, and we truly do want to share the experience with as many of you as we can!

Having read this, I hope you're able to feel a little better about how the numbers shook out 💜
