If it is a lie, it stays a lie.

I want to quote something that I saw in Twitter last night.
"Real eyes realize real lies!"
It's not necessarily related to your question. Just wanted to share it!

a lie is when you say something you believe to be false. if you say a falsehood because you believe it to be true, it's not a lie.

though it's possible to lie to yourself.. if you truly believe it because you lied to yourself, and then you tell another what you believe, is it a lie?
