how did you learn japanese?
I actually minored in Japanese during undergrad, so I took courses for three years! Obviously, I'm still nowhere near fluent, but I could probably hold down a basic conversation??? I think I know like 800-900 kanji without a dictionary which is like....barely middle schooler level LMAO but I'm getting better every day!!
I've always wanted to learn Japanese though, the first kanji I learned was a character's name so I could search ship art up on Pixiv at the grand old age of 14 something LMFAO
At uni we used the Genki textbook, as well as a workbook my professor put together. I think the thing that helped me the most was translating in my free time and learning Japanese grammar in Japanese. If you want a pdf of any of the Genki books, let me know and I can find a copy for you!
The best resource for kanji+vocabluary though has been Wanikani (website/app). You have to pay after a certain level, but it's definitely been worth it for me since I'm a huge fucking nerd. I LOVEEE learning about weird/esoteric characters :D there's something so fascinating about the history and story behind each one, it makes me want to learn more. Languages are so cool.
