Avian went from "Hyper cocky and hyper competent kid" at his Sinnoh venture who was annoying and never had to work too hard for the win, and he ALWAYS won. All the way to "Depressed burnt out karoshi office worker/former gifted kid" who genuinely believes he peaked in terms of ability and meaningful connections in his life as a teenager.

After Darkest Day, Avian however returns to Sinnoh, recaptures his released team for the purpose of squaring up against a legendary pokemon in order to settle the past for good, win or lose. In short he tries some form of therapy. He will never become the person he used to be, that person is gone but he can be a peace with himself and look for new ways to grow.
