Somehow I just listened to 'Oats in the water' for the first time (I've reread 'A joke in the way that we rust a few times, it's one of my favourites) and it made me wonder about your process when naming fics after songs.
Are the fics in their entirety inspired by the songs they're named after? Or just the titles?
And if it is the entire fic, do you take inspiration from the song's lyrics? Or the atmosphere?
This is probably a really silly question, and you've probably answered it before, but I wanted to ask because the song and the fic are both amazing
oh, it's such a good song, isn't it? that's a great question tbh. the fics aren't really inspired by the songs but imo the songs do add layers to the stories. i normally start out with a fic idea i build the story around. once that idea crystallises, i set out to find a song to go with the fic, one that fits the theme and atmosphere i'm going for. then i put it on repeat and listen to it while writing and that helps set the mood and tone. the title is almost always a lyric from that song too and comes to me about halfway through the piece, usually

What if I have a ton of ideas for fics but just don't have the time or imagination to write them down?
best advice i can give to anyone who wants to try their hand at writing is start small. one step at a time, do a little every day and see where it goes. try setting a daily or weekly goal for yourself to keep you on track and be persistent when things don't seem to be going your way. sometimes thinking about ideas and outlining and planning can be more fun than actually writing, but the only way to become good at it is to write. the process can be exhausting, sometimes the words don't want to come together and it can take weeks until everything clicks into place. but it can be satisfying, hugely rewarding, and fun too, when you do get it right. good luck!

Hi Adis! I hope you're doing well and that the end of the year has been kind to you. I absolutely adore your writing, some of your fics have truly rewritten the way my brain works (and also helped me unpack some actual irl perspectives I had in some stuff lol). If it's not too much, would you mind telling Kiwi that I love her original writing too? I keep going back to MFA and Maid for you just to reread the poetry/short stories written by Jisung. They are so, so good. I don't know if publishing original stuff is in her plans (or if she has already!) but I really hope it is. Honestly, I would love to show the MFA short story to my students haha both of you are brilliant artists, I'm glad you found each other.

i feel simultaneously flattered and slightly naked lmao the thing is, i don't need to be liked by everyone. you simply cannot have everyone in your corner and honestly, why would you want that, bound to get crowded and uncomfortable. i hate to sound like a self-help book but when you detach from the need to be universally liked and stop bending over backwards to please others, you can focus on your own growth and happiness. which isn't to say you should be selfish and egotistical, you can absolutely be a kind person and still not let others push you around. and the people who matter will like you anyway, which is more than enough<3
