We understand this concern, and we will be attempting to cover a large range of unique styles within the zine. However, our decision regarding applicant acceptance comes from multiple areas, and is not just based entirely on style.

Elements we will be looking for is a general understanding of the following:
Anatomy/proportion (the structure of the body, how the artist can draw figures in different and dynamic poses)
Composition (the way in which different elements of artwork are combined or arranged)
Color (understanding of color theory, complements, and how colors interact with each other)
Backgrounds (how they work in combination with your composition and complexity). We are allowing some pitches to be approached that don't have a traditional "background" (comics or characters repeating multiple times throughout the composition), but we are looking for purposeful elements that can tie the entire piece together.
Lighting (enhancement of the piece through an understanding of highlights and shadows)

And finally, as you mentioned, we are evaluating stylization (your distinct style and sense of artistic freedom!). We understand in many art styles, many of the aforementioned traditional guidelines aren't followed in lieu for one's individual style. However, in these cases, we are still looking for an understanding of the aforementioned elements and if an artist's purposeful deviation from traditional guidelines makes sense. And as mentioned in a previous answer, we are accepting and appreciate different physical headcanons that an artist might have for AKTY as well.

As a reminder, decisions will not be based on amount of social media following or "popularity", as we are not requiring applicants to disclose their social media profiles or handles to remove bias. We are only evaluating what is submitted, so please rest assured that all applications are only being evaluated on what is given in the portfolio.

Regardless of the outcome of the decision, we would like to affirm that everyone who had applied to ECLIPSE has absolutely wonderful work that will only get better with time and practice— no matter the current skill level. We have been absolutely blown away with the amount of passion everyone has for the project, and for this pairing that we all love!
