hey how are you? i'm sorry for coming here to ask this but i've been thinking i may be a system (for reasons i don't think are necessary for me to disclose here) and i've tried communicating with possible headmates, and i think i may be a system of 2 or maybe 3 (not sure), but i'm questioning if it's possible to be a system with only 2 or 3 alters because i've seen people criticize media rep when the system has only 2 alters (like mikosys, if they really end up being only mikoto and john, i've seen people criticizing it for it) :/ so.... is it possible? or is it more likely that, if i really am a system, i just couldn't contact the others yet? i'm sorry i know you aren't a therapist and you're not entitled to answer me, but i can't afford therapy right now and even if i'm reading a lot about systems online i'm still getting so confused idk what else to do. and english isn't my first language sorry if anything i typed is confusing. thank you in advance !!
hi, sorry for late response aaaa. I'm good, thank you, hope you're okay too :D it is totally possible!! it's true that "larger" systems are more common and also, from my own and others experience i know that it kinda takes time to acknowledge other alters, so there is an option that after some time you will be like "oh, nvm, there's also this guy. and this. and oh these 5 other guys in the corner. oh. hatsune miku." (/lhj) but if that won't happen, there is nothing wrong with that! If it helps u, my system is also quite confusing, we have distinct members, while also having parts and fragments. not everyone has their own feeling of identity, but some do, so it feels annoying sometimes, you know, there's our co-host that we are besties with and all, but then there are also some nameless mfs that i know exist and front sometimes in certain situation but i'm unable to communicate with them for now. i guess it's a result of our own experience and denial, a bit of trying to force fusion and stuff but it's just a guess honestly. anyway yeah not gonna get personal here i just wanted to say that i get you cause i myself often stess over my experience being quite different than most of my sys friends and i have moments when i am like "thats impossible, i got it all wrong" even though i know i didn't and we're literally medically recognized so,,
and yeah it's true that system rep with only 2 alters gets criticized a bit, because in the end many systems do have more and want to see that too, but it doesn't mean it is inaccurate or something!! smaller systems are also common and valid :) i personally don't want mikosys to be just mikoto and john, but not because I hate the idea of just 2 alters but because John split in mikoto's twenties and DID comes from early childhood trauma so it would be just inaccurate. plus mido theory just makes so much sense come on bcjdhg
but yeah, to answer you: it is possible! just like it is possible that you haven't been able to contact the others yet, but that's not something to worry about, it doesn't make you any less real and whether you discover more headmates or not, you are completely valid and you aren't less of a system !!<3
