I think I wrote about this before. There is an Iranian movie which was also taught to us as part of a Persian literature course in high school.

There was a boy who lost his younger sister's pair of shoes. They were from a poor family. The boy had to share his sneakers with her sister. To redress the situation, the boy participated in a footrace. The third prize was a pair of sneakers. He wanted to be in the third place but somehow ended up being the winner of the race. He was truly disappointed that he won the race!
