For me personally it was a very good thing to leave my parents' home at 18. I went to college and started living in dorm, free from the control of my parents especially my dad. I needed to be away from them because I didn't get along living with them under the same roof. This is how I feel about leaving my parents' home. If I had a normal family I'd probably have a different view about it but based on my own experiences it's better to be independent of your parents as soon as possible.
