ok in the previous ask i talked a bit about how khj doesn't know how to behave around kjy and that's one of the things i like but something else is the mutual emotional constipation - they're constipated in different ways too bc khj is no stranger to being vulnerable or needing help from other people (sjy thank you for your service) but she tends to shove the feelings that can't be spat out right away into a corner of her mind and she won't confront them unless forced to or given extensive alone brooding time. kjy on the other hand is very prideful, doesn't like to be vulnerable, doesn't like to lose, and she's v stubborn. so you end up with this mismatch where both of them simply cannot express their more complicated sentiments to each other bc khj is still processing while kjy can't figure out how to say it without putting herself in a position of vulnerability. the fun part is when kjy inevitably gets frustrated and finally lets her emotions do the talking but it's still not enough for khj to unconstipate herself 😭 it's very good slowburn/angst material and it's also resulted in many more funny scenes eg at khj's first without u prerec... when normal people cry they cry with each other (especially if they are literally crying bc of the other person) but sb freaking turned and cried AWAY from each other????? LMFAOOOOOO

aside from all these more angst-oriented things tho i find myself really enjoying fics that focus on their connection w each other. they do click well, they have the same sense of humour (cue kjy laughing at whatever khj says), they have similar tastes and even visually they compliment each other. khj is someone who doesn't change for other people but kjy almost forces her to adapt herself and reflect deeper, while khj brings out that softer side of kjy 🥹 they are a living begrudgingly-cordial-exes trope but maybe they deserve a happy ending sometimes

ngl i don't feel that qualified to give a crash course besides this rambling bc some people have a real mental sb encyclopedia (cat) but i hope this was informative somewhat heheh

1 hyunlu brainrotter is a v prestigious title given that i have only one published hyunlu work 😭 but ty i actually started writing/brainrotting sb way before i legit got into hl. i'll focus on the 2nd qn since the next ask kinda overlaps with the 1st (sorry i'll forfeit those 10 marks)

so just looking at the way kjy and lld perceive khj first - there are a lot of similarities. they both really look up to khj, and even within the group they stand out in this aspect - kjy's "you've always been a cool unnie to me", both of them talking about how much they like khj's voice, recommending her songs and covers etc. this is despite the fact that they both don't get khj's thinking/personality at all (kjy "the mysterious unnie in the bunk next to mine", literally all the hl content from wjmk is so funny there's one uzzu where lld straight up says she had a hard time during wjmk bc of khj) which i find so endearing bc all of the wujus really bend to accomodate khj, even these two logical hardheads, genuinely out of love lmfaooo

but when it comes to khj and how she responds to them - i think it's easier for her to deal w lld than kjy. lld fits very nicely into the dongsaeng role, she lets herself be doted on and cared for and led by the unnies, so khj treats her as such without issue. but kjy is different, she's younger but is more independent and steadfast than khj herself, and she's been around in khj's life long enough to be treated more like an equal, having seen some of khj's probably lowest moments. given this, she should be like csj, a companion and confidant, but she isn't that either... then what is she?! khj can't figure out where to put kjy. so it stresses her out and makes for some v fun situations where khj doesn't know how to behave normally around kjy or 받아 it when kjy shows her softer side. but then you put this beside the moments where their shared history comes through, knowing each other's habits, preferences (khj: "bona doesn't eat fried food" / everyone: "???") and it really makes you wonder just what they're supposed to be

umm i think i brought up enough sb moments to fulfil the 10 mark criteria so that gives me 30/30 i predict. pls let me know my score tq hehe
