has anyone every said to you that you're too old to like magical girls? how would you deal with that? be it parents, friends, students or other teachers ect (although i think it's great your students don't mind it because i feel like anywhere else it would be made fun of so maybe it's completely different in japan?)

It’s only so much as any other country has a bit of a stigma against adults who enjoy cartoons. It can be embarrassing enough that I don’t tell most of my adult students what I like to watch, but with kids it’s a regular part of the lesson to discuss what we like, so they usually find out (also I have a PreCure phone case)… kids never really directly call me too old, but a negative reaction might be more because the kids in question don’t like PreCure. They sometimes wonder how it could be amusing to an adult.

One thing with adults I’ve noticed is most of the time, people expect you to only like the magical girls you were alive for. When I talk to people older than me about series from the 60s-80s, they get very excited and shocked that I even know those series exist. And that kinda matches what I know to be true with everyday people who don’t usually watch animation outside of childhood: most of them only saw a handful of magical girls and then grew out of cartoons generally. This includes PreCure.
