osdd is practically a replacement label for ddnos (like how did is the replacement for mpd to describe the disorder better). in this case, we're talking about osdd-1 replacing ddnos-1 i know people who get diagnosed the 1a or 1b subtype, and while yes, they're not actually listed as diagnostic labels, they borrow from ddnos-1a and 1b. so while they aren't precisely aboard in our current list of official diagnoses, it's wrong to say that people are wrong for saying they have type 1a pr 1b. no, they are not exactly community terms, nor are they actually official medical terms on paper, sort of in a strange gray area where therapists may use them or something like that.
wait is it kinda like how add and adhd used to be separated terms but now theyre just both considered adhd (in a lot of countries)
Whilst that’s true, and I understand your point, in future I wouldn’t compare the nature of dissociative disorders to the likes of autism and the previous diagnosis, “Asperger’s” as the history behind
that is much more loaded in ableism and bigotry, rather than the change in diagnosis’ labels between the DSMs for dissociative disorders. I would probably say, “It’s like how the term MPD is no longer used for DID” etc.
yeah its essentially just a replacement label for ddnos but the online system community decided to keep using 1a and 1b. osdd also doesn't necessarily even mean someone who has it is a system, it's a large umbrella term for any dissociative symptoms that do not fit another diagnosis
