Heavy on twitter being a time sink, i have bad adhd and I've lost so many hours to endless scrolling. Eliminating all scrolling-based social media was the best choice for me ever. Props to you for doing it - how bad was the socmed brainrot for you ?

good work, anon--i'm glad to hear that you were able to make such a big change. i'm still working on eliminating social media in general. i struggle with reddit a lot in particular because you don't need an account to browse, and reading posts takes a lot longer than looking at a picture or watching a video. it was an easy thing to do when i was content and resting on my laurels--it doesn't challenge one at all, and while i was recovering from a difficult time in my life, i had no desire to be challenged. but the emptiness it carves out within someone is so deleterious to their wellbeing. there came a point where, multiple times a day, i would ask myself, "what am i even doing? i have one life, and this is how i'm spending it?" truly, art is what saves me, always. reading books, playing games, watching movies, creating art--those are all much more enriching pursuits, and though it takes work to restore one's attention span, it is so worth it.
