that literally Is what they're lamenting and they're not even quiet about it considering how many people were unironically complaining that they couldn't find a moral justification for hating mavuika and capitano's narrative chemistry or a reason to call them problematic (same goes for mualani and kinich to an extent).

xilonen, kinich, and mualani as characters were written to uphold the nation's core theme of collective child-rearing, hence why most of the cast play supportive roles to kachina and olorun throughout both AQs (i haven't played the latest one yet so i can't speak on it), and the fact that that leaves little room for romance fodder is seen as a failing. mavuika objectively has the most solidly executed archon story so far in terms of direct social resonance, but it doesn't sell to people who aren't reading the text for that purpose. her relationship with capitano also can't be as easily used to flatten her core purpose as an archon (although people will definitely try, just as they did with zhongli, ei, and furina).

natlan Doesn't have viable ships when people are legit allergic to anything that isn't Slop, so there's no real surprise to be found when in 4 years there have been maybe 3 good popular ships at best.

thank you very much for giving me such a detailed heads up my friend, i haven't mentioned it in a while but literally the main reason why i didn't watch the first season was because it was released in the midst of one of riot's many sexual assault lawsuits and many others also decided to forgo giving it viewership for that reason. almost every single large media company in the US has ties to the zionist regime as an extension of our military so it doesn't surprise me in the slightest that riot falls in that bracket.

i know everyone's having a good time with arcane rn so i don't always like to be the party pooper either, but i think everyone is better equipped to engage with american media when we can identify the shitty connections of the people behind the scenes.

honestly i've loved kids ever since my nephew was born, and he turned 9 this year so pretty much all of my adult life has been spent knowing that i wanted to do Something for kids. his childhood has already been so difficult due to being surrounded by adults who are simply unequipped to approach him as his own human being, and that made me much more aware of how we are all socially programmed to treat children with so much immeasurable contempt. and of course that isn't to say that i only care about other kids because of my bubby but his childhood has made me much more aware of how imperative it is for little ones to have a village that loves them unconditionally. when i was in high school i wanted to be a teacher after bubby was born and seeing how much more readily kids were punished than cared for was another huge push.

i think that if you do go into a field that focuses on working with kids and teenagers, ensure that you are able to build a very solid team of contacts whom you know you can trust to help you advocate for them when they need it, whether it's against legal or policing systems, their parents, etc. helping professions in general call for wrap-around team and a strong contact network but when it comes to representing kids, there is so much resistance at every level to providing lasting security for them because it's easy to withhold resources from people who don't know exactly what they need. ANYWAY I'M RAMBLING BUT it always makes me happy when people want to work with children in a way that actually aims to meet their needs so if you do choose to pursue it, i hope it feels like the right fit. :')
