I keep thinking about how hu tao and xiao and actually so deeply connected like no I can't let that be downplayed anymore... and even all that aside their dynamic is so much to think about. I don't like some fanon interpretations (aka hu tao being the equivalent of a therapist, xiao being the one to save hu tao etc. #tome hu tao's the bolder one and she most definitely doesn't need saving lol). the two of them have lots they could learn from each other. but fanon interpretation aside, if you just sit and think about their philosophies far beyond surface level, they're seriously so beautiful. the internal debate xiao has about death being retribution or it being release and hu tao's intimate connection to the yin yang spectrum and her more positive outlook on death (without ignoring her own proximity to grief, and her proneness to be anxious about it) it already gives you so much to work with, and there's far more to them than just that. its not just about agreements because there's points they could potentially clash on too, but their characters as individuals decide how they want to navigate that.

YOU GET ITTTTTT i’ve been insane about their lore for years and i’ve only tuned it down because furina demanded 75% of my brain juice. their view on death perfectly aligns with their butterfly symbolism, down to their story quest names (that were also released one after the other!!!): “butterfly’s dream”, xiao yearning for death as an end, as a definite stop to his long suffering; “yet the butterfly flies away” death as part of a journey, something inevitable that does not establish any firm ending…

i haven’t seen many fanon interpretations that clashed with their canon personalities, mostly because it’s such a small ship and i follow very few “creators”, only one being an author— WHICH BTW I RECOMMED BECAUSE THEY WROTE THE ABSOLUTE BEST HX SERIES GO READ BEAST AND MORTALS BY MIRAIMISU!!!!!!
