i've always thought that hu tao knows that zhongli is the geo archon and doesn't just think that he's an adeptus. probably only pretends she thinks he's an adeptus so she can tease him in public without making people speculate that rex lapis is alive. mostly because the wfp took responsibility of the fake corpse and since hu tao deals with resentment of gods/energy imbalances/death, she'd be the first one to recognise that the corpse was fake
i want to believe that as well but i think they simply decided to leave it as ambiguous as possible so they can fix it to their liking whenever it might be necessary… hu tao is very smart tho so i wouldn’t be surprised if she realized who he really is!!! she clocked neuvillette’s personality in five minutes jdndkd
