You mentioned in another ask that people praised traveler too much for what he did in the array even though he wasn't a part of it and though I agree (I'm tired of the endless traveler praise) I think this goes to show that hu tao's friends still do not know what transpired at the border. They don't know that she was the only one responsible for the ritual; neither the traveler nor any of the 7 who took place in the array were responsible for it, they only took part of the fetor blast; the cleansing task, fetor absorption and details of the ritual all fell to hu tao. They still don't know the risks hu tao takes on a daily basis or that she was about to die. This is a conscious decision on her part, she doesn't want them to know.

The part in the beginning of the epilogue where xiangling says she's not going to take excuses from hu tao anymore made me heart break a little. They actually don't know anything about what took place.
