As a Sephiroth and Sefikura stan since 2010/2011, why are we insisting that anyone who's stanning Sephiroth must ALWAYS include Cloud and sefikura, or to be direct 'stan his cause', else we aren't true fans? There are many Sephiroth stans who appreciate Sephiroth Cloud, Aerith, etc. and the story of FF7 who doesn't ship as much as the majority and still respects the opinions/ preferences of others without any need of harassment.
Unless that whole insistence is directed at those liking Sephiroth but are being disrespectful to those shipping sefikura, then I think that whole mindset is sort of toxic.
And I mean that In the most respectful way possible since as a Sefikura veteran, the ship and all its fanfics over the years got me through a lot and I want nothing but the best for all who love it as I do and treat it as a safe space since so much horrible things go on in the FF7 fandom. 💔
I do think this is directed primarily at Sephiroth Stans who are hostile to Sefikuras (which of course we find funny because they’re like “but he burned his hometown down!!/but I can fix him”
It’s probably similar to people vague tweeting about how people who hate on Aerith or Tifa do not truly care about Cloud, etc.
It’s fine like you say, to dislike any character or ships, it’s just not cool to harass others for whatever they like
I’m sure there are Sephiroth fans who dislike Sefikura and that’s perfectly fine; some of them may condemn us and so I think these sentiments just point that these people are ignoring canon significance + hypocrisy
