Do you figure out what expression/pose a character is going to use for each line during the writing phase, or is that something you do afterwards? Do you account for expressions at all when writing, or do you just not think about it and apply them later? Would love to know your process!

I just write freely and worry about assigning expressions and poses later. At this point, each character has a pretty wide emotional range in their sprite art, so I can cover almost anything at this point. However, there are times when I'm working on scripting the game in RenPy and I realize that a particular line requires a certain emotion that I don't have access to. If that's the case, I can rework the line to fit what I do have available. If I can't rework the line, then I ask Drake to draw me a new sprite expression 😅.
