Where about is your ideal place to live?
For me it's not that important where I live geographically, but who's there and who's close by
Besides that... I would have no idea
probably in a small downtown in a subtropical climate.
"but fen," you might be prepared to interject, "isn't that functionally already where you live?"
yeah, pretty much. i love it here.
i've always heard stories of people who go to a place and fall in love with it and want to move there. i've never felt that. i've experienced the novelty of a new place, and have had loads of fun at places i've been, but never in an "i could see myself living here" kind of way.
despite all the gestures broadly things that are happening in florida, it's not a monolith. and it won't be forever. there's loads of us who are carving out good spaces. despite being in a predominantly rural, conservative county, we've got bastions of arts and culture and inclusivity if you're willing to look. i love the weather, i love the diversity of the towns i'm in and around, and i love the culture we're building here. this is my home, and we're making it good.
about the only thing i'm missing is walkability. the ability to just hop on my bike or walk to where i wanted or needed is one of the things i miss most dearly about my time away at uni in my early 20s. currently i live in a more residential area because the price is right, but i sure would like to relocate to someplace where i could just walk or bike everywhere again, hence the into a small downtown portion.
