hi omg I'm sorry I took so long to respond to this..I think for me the most important part of smut is the build up!! when you build the tension, the chemistry between the couple/throuple/whoever, that's what really makes it so impactful. I think the actual act itself doesn't even have to be that long, but if people get that build up they'll still feel the same satisfaction. if you're going for writing something more detailed and very step by step so to speak, I think it's important to always call back to how the characters feel about what's happening. the smut I've enjoyed the most is smut where it's obvious the characters are incredibly turned on by what's happening..like the simplest things can be really hot if only the character thinks it is..so that's my advice! at least for my style of how I write smut, I'd suggest that including that build up before the actual act, and always calling back to how the characters feel, can help make smut so much better!
