hi.. i'm sure this has crossed your mind but, what do you think gus/amity interactions would be like? (casual or not, whatever comes to mind, yes this is ren, and also direct interactions)
HI YES YES i dont have the brain cells to write a formal answer to this rn, but i recently wrote an au fic about their dynamic!! (https://archiveofourown.org/works/42868986)...that's a bit different from how it'd be in normal non-au circumstances in my mind, but i definitely think they'd always have this weird tension at first because of the willow stuff... :'))) eventually they bond through their academic stuff and nerdiness but it's one of the friendships in hexsquad that takes the longest to naturally get close
your favorite pokemon is scyther. whats yours?
thoughts on rosegold - anon who looks suspiciously like rikku but has a post it note over his face that says ‘not rikku’
DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'VE JUST ENABLED BY ASKING ME THIS. DO YOU KNOW.
i have an endless amount of thoughts about these two and i really really need to write a fic that's just the two of them together someday. i think they balance each other out really well and they GET each other in some ways that the others don't due to their similarly abusive upbringings. they become very important support systems for each other eventually, and i'd like to imagine a scenario that's a reversal of eclipse lake where hunter comforts amity instead and reminds her of her own worth and how she was one of the first people to inspire him to break free of his bad situation. speaking in regards to just what's shown in canon, i really really like how their dynamic is an example of how...an abused person won't always react well to someone reaching out to help them, and how healing isn't easy or linear but it's worth it. i was initially a bit saddened that hunter rejected her so fiercely, but after seeing season 2b i quickly decided that i loveeeeeee the way their eclipse lake interaction played out. i'm glad that he didn't accept her help right away, and that amity kept her distance from him to let him process his feelings at the pace he needed to.
eclipse lake amity is still awkward and inexperienced with genuinely helping other people, and she's so focused on her self-imposed mission to please luz, and she's still in that stage of a new relationship where things don't really feel natural or fully real yet. she's in the true beginning of a new era of her life and her healing process. hunter, on the other hand, is pretty much more alone than ever besides flapjack. he literally wants to DIE when he thinks he's failed the one person who (he falsely believes) thinks he's special. he's an abused kid trying to please someone they care about and want the respect of, and he's like an extreme example of what amity could have become if she kept going down the dark path she started the show on. the thing connecting them is that they're both DESPERATE to become something they assume someone else wants them to be (an awesome girlfriend vs the golden guard) no matter what it takes...it's almost like the eclipse lake fight is amity fighting back against an angry representation of her past self who was more stuck in those toxic mindsets/behaviors influenced by her parents, and she chooses mercy and compassion instead of hurting him...😭♥ i like to think she would extend the same kindness to her own past self too if she could talk to her.
amity has spent the entire show getting reached out to by various people, mostly luz, and she tries to do it herself with this guy she barely knows because she can see SO MUCH of her old self in him. an abused person can easily identify another abused person, and that sure is true for these two. eclipse lake was one of the first episodes that truly made me get a little emotional over how much she's grown the first time i watched it. she's switched from being the one getting helped to the one doing the helping, and that's so lovely. it makes me proud of her for trying, even if she got rejected for it this time. her season 1 self would have NEVER reached out to him like that, and it warms my heart to watch her try so hard to showcase the positive caring traits that luz helped her gain. they're two genuinely very sweet kids who have to clumsily learn how to express their inner kindness they weren't allowed to show by their abusers until now.
i think they're sort of like hunter & luz's dynamic at first, where they don't really know HOW to be casual friends at first, because they're initially primarily bonded through some really traumatic shit and their shared trait of being abuse survivors. their early attempts at one-on-one conversations in the human realm are probably awkward and brief, probably lots of talking about their shared worry for luz, but eventually they both crack and just...cry around each other a lot. they cry for the normal childhoods they both didn't get to have, and the normal teenhoods that they're both currently being robbed of, and how much pain they both know the other person went through too because they both GET how horrible it feels and how much it affects your entire life. he definitely becomes amity's closest male friend eventually (sorry gus, but i need to be realistic lol) and they both give each other very comforting hugs ♥
once they're in a safer calmer situation, and things are okay again and they can begin to construct their new lives together in post-canon, they bond over shared silly corny girly interests. hunter is transfem in my post-canon au, and amity is definitely the main person giving her fashion advice and teaching her cute hairstyles. they're just.........doing cheesy teen girl stuff together all the time. they're very sweet together. amity is also really touched that willow has found an s/o that makes her feel so loved and respected, and i think the rosegold dynamic ties in a lot with the huntlow/amillow ones in general. i think there's maybe a hint of sadness behind the rosegold dynamic, where amity is stuck watching hunter be a support system for willow that she could never be anymore...it reminds her of her mistakes, but she pushes past it eventually. he often reminds her of the things she loves about willow.
THANKS FOR THE EXCUSE TO YELL ABOUT MY TWO FAVE BLORBOS HAHA
i have a variety of contradictory wittebros thoughts that don't fully work together...there's like two versions of the wittebanes in my head. one is a version where they're biological siblings, and the other is a version where they're adoptive found family siblings. i definitely think that they're orphans in both versions, though...if they're biologically related, caleb takes over as the parental figure when their parents die while philip is still a toddler. if they're adoptive siblings, they're from two different families with no parents and caleb discovers philip one day in the forest or something and takes this creepy kid in because he can relate to him. in the version where they're biologically related, philip is definitely an annoying mommy's boy lmao. i think caleb probably had pressure put on him from a young age, whether that be from his parents or by the fact that he had to raise philip by himself, because of how he clearly wanted to passively run away from his problems in the demon realm. i think the brothers generally got along well most of the time, but philip definitely has some rose-tinted glasses on with those hollow mind pictures if the more sickly-looking depressed caleb in the thanks to them mirror scene is any indication...they were pretty typical kids of the time period who were close at first but grew apart as they got older (partially due to their age gap) and philip couldn't deal with that as well as caleb could. i think what we've had implied to us by the hollow mind pictures isn't a fully accurate picture of their childhoods and relationship, and there was more pre-existing conflict between the two of them in the human realm that philip has tried to erase from his mind.
i don't have many specific wittechild thoughts that i haven't already shared in my fic about them, but i do need y'all to know that i strongly believe caleb was intending to name them after philip before the whole...murder thing happened 🤭 AWKWARDDDDDDDDDDD! no idea what wittewife would use for them instead after that, though. not sure if philip ever knew that was the plan but i'm sure he'd be pissed about it because the kid isn't a human...he'd probably view it as yet another example of caleb trying to replace him with the demon realm.
gigi whats your honkai otp and best girl. based on what you Know through me
HIIIII FIO LMAOOOOOOOOO i know this is the most basic bitch answer possible but from what you've told me, i think i'd vibe with kiamei's whole angst situation. their personalities seem up my alley too because of how different they are. i loveeeeee dramatic sapphics. i will never be into a mihoyo game but like...i hope your lesbians get their happy ending someday.
and my best girl is anyone who's pink and/or cute ♥
You think Caleb and Philip would be orphans? and how do you think they would react to this?
i'm constantly torn on this. i adore the concept of them being found family orphans who aren't biologically related so they can twist the themes of the show, but i'm also obsessed with the idea of wittechild looking like philip. i think that if they did have parents, they weren't particularly loving at all and didn't provide much for them — caleb was always more of a parent to philip no matter what. i do think that philip in particular would really aim for getting their approval, though. he's definitely a big mommy's boy. he craves the acceptance of his parents no matter how old he gets, but an older caleb eventually stops caring about that once he realizes how fundamentally incompatible his personal mindset and goals are with the human realm.
in a world where they're orphans, i think it's all philip has ever really known. he's always been very self-sufficient, and he's probably kept himself surviving through some brutal methods (he definitely fought with other kids...). i think he wouldn't even remember his parents, because he was simply too young when they died. caleb would remember his own, though, and his decisions are constantly shaped by them. he probably bases how he treats philip after how his own parents raised him, at least at first. i think having the influence of a loving parent still in the back of his mind definitely turned caleb into a kinder person than philip, who has no memory of his. caleb's memories slowly start to fade as he gets older, though, and he starts creating more of his own independent identity rather than just following what he was instructed to do by his parents. caleb's parents probably had some messed up mindsets about witches and such at the time, and i wouldn't be surprised if caleb was the one who taught that kind of behavior to philip and ended up regretting it years later.
this is a really interesting concept to consider. i think that philip would have had very traditional views on what kind of woman caleb should be with even regardless of the whole witch thing, so i don't think he'd like her more wild and carefree personality (he would definitely compare her a lot to other women of the time period). i also think that even outside of how she is as a person, regardless of anything about her, philip would grow to dislike anyone for "taking caleb away from him" even if they were the nicest person ever. i just can't imagine a world where he'd ever accept that happening, even if caleb's partner was a human who met all of the stereotypical standards for a woman of the time period. philip would always find a way to dislike anyone who gets too close to caleb. clingy younger sibling things.
fic recs GO
this might be unexpected but i honestly barely read toh fanfiction. the majority of what i read on ao3 is for other fandoms, including non-cartoon ones. i'm trying to get myself to read toh fanfiction more often though, because there's definitely a lot out there for toh platonic dynamics compared to most other fandoms. i haven't even read most stuff that's considered a "classic" in the fandom lol. i'm mostly interested in platonic fics instead of romantic ones for toh because i really like how romance is handled in the show already, but there's plenty of platonic dynamics that i wish had more screentime so i like reading fics for those. i'm particularly fond of stuff with hunter getting parental figures like darius and eda; most of the toh fics i read fall under that label, or they're platonic ones with him and luz. my taste in fics tends to be similar to what i write, so if i want to see a certain concept done, i tend to just write it myself LMAO. i also pretty much only read oneshots instead of multi-chapter fics in all my fandoms because of my bad attention span LOLLLLL.
there's barely anything public in my bookmarks, but i do really like the stuff that's there, so check those out!!!: https://archiveofourown.org/users/clovariia/bookmarks
for eda and hunter fans in particular, i think this series of fics by hereforthehurts is really healing (or at least, what i read from it ages ago was): https://archiveofourown.org/series/2013046
i want to know what you think of WitteWife (aka mary cough cough) so far, like what do you think she has for personality? have you given her any headcanons yet? and if (and i mean a big IF) she decided to join an coven, what coven do you think she would join?
WITTEWIFE...i love her, and i think the name mary is a good fit for her. i didn't expect her to be a thing but hollow mind gave me permanent brainrot and i'm so happy they gave caleb a person in his life outside of just philip. it makes him feel more like an actual guy with his own life and not just an object in philip's story.
i wrote a lot about this in my wittechild fic, but i think she's suchhhhhhh an interesting concept for a character because she symbolizes so much in the show. she's essentially the first person belos ruined the life of that we know about, and she's like a physical representation of his hatred for magic and he views her like a caricature of what he hates about witches, and she's treated almost a bit like eve from the bible? she seems to be depicted like a woman who lured caleb into committing a sin, in philip's eyes...but of course, we know that that's not really the case and it was just genuine love, which philip can't get through his head. i desperately wish we had the screentime to see the aftermath of her reaction to caleb's death. she's one of the most tragic figures in the entire series. i'm sure she was a totally badass mom for wittechild, too. she did the best she could. (....i'm also sure flapjack adored her like how he's gonna adore willow, heheh. he definitely helped get wittewife and caleb together.)
as for her personality, i think it'd be super fun if she has traits from both eda and lilith. i think she's probably a lot like teen eda's personality, where she's impulsive and reckless and just...takes up so much space everywhere she goes, in regards to how big and loud her vibes are. but i also think she's intelligent and passionate and definitely has lilith-style bad coping mechanisms and anger problems. i think it'd be really fun if she has some parallels to willow at first glance, but then those get subverted right after to set her and caleb apart from huntlow despite the two ships being parallels. for example, maybe she gets introduced doing plant magic, but it quickly falls apart as it's revealed that she's pretty crappy at it right after. something like that would be a nice way of emphasizing that hunter's crush on willow is his own choice, and not just influence from caleb's taste in girls LMAO.
also, i think it'd be fun to put her in potions like eda and lilith were!!! i bet she was super powerful at a wide variety of types of magic, though. those clawthorne genes are strong.
What if Flapjack dies and Hunter is handed a handmade cardinal plushie after everything with the Demon realm is settled? (plushie could be made by either Darius or someone else in Hunter’s support circle)
MY SECOND RETROSPRING ASK IS DEVASTATING ANGST 😭😭😭 i personally am against the idea of flapjack dying because i don't see a huge purpose in it with the themes of hunter's character arc, BUT if it did happen, i'd definitely include this coping mechanism as a part of my vision of post-canon. hunter would definitely never fully get over flapjack if he died 😭 i imagine hunter being very fond of plushies and other soft toys (points at his sprig plushie) and that he finds them comforting, so i think a flapjack one would be very fitting for that too. darius would definitely make one if this happened...ouch. excellent concept even though it's angstier than my usual taste.
