HI YES YES i dont have the brain cells to write a formal answer to this rn, but i recently wrote an au fic about their dynamic!! (https://archiveofourown.org/works/42868986)...that's a bit different from how it'd be in normal non-au circumstances in my mind, but i definitely think they'd always have this weird tension at first because of the willow stuff... :'))) eventually they bond through their academic stuff and nerdiness but it's one of the friendships in hexsquad that takes the longest to naturally get close
