thank you for p3wm posting in the year of our lord 2024
hii waves around have u ever noticed how strega + sho minazuki (all canonically have suffered human experimentation & takaya clutches his head when summoning his persona) have red flamed personas. have u also ever noticed how loki persona 5 has a red flame and how goro akechi clutches his head a lil bit when summoning him. how shido says he made him stronger when u boss fight him. how wakaba is seen experimenting on people. hmmmm. i need strega and goro akechi to talk so bad takaya would brother this child back to hell and back i need my favs to talk
Red flames signify berserk personas, so I would say Akechi clutches his head due to the similar strain Takaya experiences when summoning. Shinjiro experiences the same during his theurgy so it isn't just from experimentation. Also worth noting that when Jin takes steroids that amps up his persona and therefore makes it beserk.
I have not played P4AU, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought Sho Minazuki's red flames came from the Hinokagutsuchi that takes possesses him? Hence all of the red imagery with Sho + the fog etc. But yes Sho & Strega were both victims of Ikutsuki's experiments.
Theorizing Akechi's came from experimentation is interesting; (I haven't thought about P5 in a while either so forgive me again) but Shido's line of strengthening him could've meant more than training Akechi as a hitman. Shido did get Wakaba's research, I don't think she would've done it herself (?)
Overall I agree, they should all bond over how they've gotten used by adults and turned into hitmen. Seems to be a common theme in the entire franchise lol.
same anon who just asked if you've read shadow cry: i just scrolled thru here and i've seen you talk about it! youre the only other person i've seen talk about strega in a way i can understand in an adoring way and talk about shadow cry, so this was a pleasant surprise.. ur a huge jin fan and i am a takaya fan :D. he definitely puts on an act for the SEES, in my opinion, comparing how he acts around strega versus the sees.. but i digress, for now :D. i'd love a doodle of them + shinji bc.. theyre the friends ever (i love takajin & akishinji but takashinji is also so good. idk man.. theres so much we dont know about takaya and "he looks older" ... he likely doesnt care for himself all that much. he actually seems to care about strega more than himself sometimes (telling jin to hurry up the murder bc chidori wants to go home is the brotherest thing ever.) and realistically all of the persona boys who arent freshman should have some sort of facial hair (unless they all shave. hm.) ...idk. i love them. i asked taitavva (on tumblr) to make art of the two of them (& seperately them & shuake as a meme) and it was amazing . i'll send that to you if youd like :D. i'd love to hear your thoughts about jin and strega, hopefully we can find more stuff from shadow cry
Thank you for your asks anon!! Please feel free to talk to me about Strega omg. Im glad my passion comes through.
I’m not sure why I haven’t ever drawn Strega + Shinji together (besides the meme in my header) considering they’re they faves. I have a lot of ideas for that, but whatever I do it’ll probably take me a while. I might try to do a compilation of Shinji’s different interactions with them, including those in Shadow Cry.
I did want to respond to this ASAP though, so I doodled Takaya today (fittingly??? on Easter lol).
Hope this is suffices for now + I had others asking for Takaya.
hello sab... please.... i request some yttd.... it's been a million years..... last chapter soon... ehe./...
im the one person who follows u for enstars.. natsumugi pls 🧎(i love persona too dw but i found u thru enstars art lol)

[carry over from CC] goro akechi…. mayhaps….
[carry over from CC] may I request a kamiki 🙏
what if as a part of the reload expansion pass we got an original story dlc where we play as strega or something... maybe during the initial kirijo experiments on them idk. this will likely never happen, but thoughts?
It’s fun to entertain the idea though it won’t happen. Here’s 2 ideas:
1. I don’t think it’d be of the initial experiments because Strega were ~8 y.o.. Also, if you’ve seen their backstory clip in P3WM, they don’t know what they’re doing and that’s why everyone around them is dying.
So to make this playable, the DLC should explore them learning to control their personas. Strega would have to meet each other early on to make a dungeon party, but the idea of other experiment kids joining the party then dying would be fitting. Helps sell the idea of attachment’s worthlessness.
Bringing up the novel “Shadow Cry” for the millionth time again, but one of those kids could be Izumi. There’s already a narrative around him acting as an older brother figure, protecting Jin, and then supposedly dying.
—
2. Which then leads to how the DLC could just be “Shadow Cry” but implemented in the game. However, there’s timing and relationship conflicts between the stories leave me with hesitancy to call it a good idea.
Also a novel is much different from a game. If the DLC were to offer insight on Strega’s daily lives, the gameplay could be doing their avenging business opposed to exploring Tartarus.
The “daily life” aspect would be difficult; but switching protagonists may be the way to go. You play as Chidori and see her perspective during the Junpei arc. You play as Jin and do all the stuff he has to in order to maintain Strega.
Or Takaya. If there had to be a single protagonist, I’d focus it on Takaya to better understand his mindset and foils to Makoto. Love me a good unreliable narrator.
—
I like the first idea over the second because I think the “early explorations of Tartarus” could be a fun DLC idea to save for the SEES Seniors. Show what happened two years ago.
[carry over from CC] keisuke and odagiri? :3
Haii is it ok if I edit your “””normie”” jin edit with my personal hcs ofhim ..
I have been fascinated and enthralled by your jinposting as of late, and I was curious if you've ever compiled and shared all your knowledge of shadow cry before? As far as I can tell, not even an in depth summary exists in English, so you might be one of the few non-japanese speaking fans on the internet to have even a semi-decent understanding of it. Do you think you'd ever consider compiling and releasing what you know about the story publicly? No pressure of course, but i know I'd love to give it a read if you ever did :)
(Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask something like this btw LOL)
I will try to give a cohesive response with what I know :) Keep in mind that what I say may not be 100% accurate, as I don't speak Japanese nor have read Shadow Cry (SC).
I will credit this tumblr post + link to a Chapter 1 translation & review of the novel by someone who has actually read Shadow Cry. Most of my summary is taken from these + additional facts were cross-examined from various machine translated JP posts.

Shadow Cry is a 2007 novel focused on Strega. The novel also has Shinjiro, Akihiko, Ken, and an original character named Izumi. It switches perspectives between the characters but is relatively centered on contrasting Jin and Izumi’s mindsets. It takes place in the summer of the game (which adds to why it's hard to view as canon but I digress).
Izumi was a child in the Strega experiment. He acted as an older brother to Jin and protected him as children, resulting in a scar on Izumi’s eye. Strega thought Izumi died during an exploration in Tartarus, but he survived and was taken in by Mrs. Amada. Though he now lives with a different woman and her children, Izumi wanted to find Mrs. Amada’s killer because he knew Ken was searching for them. Izumi decides to send a request through Strega’s website, unaware that Strega were his old friends. Unrelated to the request, Izumi and Strega reunite by coincidence during the dark hour. Jin is thrilled, Takaya is intrigued, and Chidori doesn’t like Izumi cause she barely remembers him. However, Izumi has his own family now, and there is a gap in mindset between Izumi and Jin towards attachments.
Jin is envious of & respects Izumi's positive outlook towards family. However, the novel concludes with Jin affirmed in his mindset he should live for Takaya. By the end of the novel, Izumi becomes this out-of-control shadow consuming monster that Strega has to kill. I think Jin ultimately does it with Izumi’s own knife. (Izumi became a monster because his uniquely weak nameless persona eventually became part of him, not exactly a shadow (?).)
I am not sure if Jin kills Izumi to protect Takaya & Chidori, but I’ve seen depictions of it. This could mean 1. Jin realized he cares for Takaya like how Izumi cares for his family, or 2. Having to kill Izumi made Jin realize once again that all attachments are meaningless, as he just killed an old friend. My hypothesis is it’s a combination.
The novel portrays Jin's inner conflict in additional “caring” ways. Takaya doesn’t like to clean, so he cleans. The furniture in the Strega hideout was moved by Jin & Takaya during the dark hour. When Chidori needs hot water, Jin assists (but only after being threatened). I think she orders him around a few times actually. I know at some point Strega eats ramen, and I’ve seen various art imply that Jin was the one who cooked or bought it. Also, it’s canon that Jin plays with his grenades in public but I’ve seen implications that Jin entertains children with it. lol. Furthermore, all of Strega babysits/ visits the child Izumi lives with named Saya.

Besides Strega & Izumi, Shinjiro seems to be important to understand Jin. In all other P3 media, Jin & Shinji are very hostile towards each other. SC portrays them with a “mutual respect” towards another. A specific line sums it along the lines of “Jin doesn’t hate people like Aragaki.”
While Jin is investigating Mrs. Amada’s killer, the monster (Izumi) attacks him. Shinjiro, who was in the alley paying his respects, saves Jin. At Takaya’s (?) suggestion, Jin takes Shinjiro out for ramen as repayment (but also maybe see if Shinjiro was Mrs. Amada’s killer?).
I don’t know what they discuss over ramen. The rest of this paragraph is hypothetical, and may just be completely fan made. I’ve only seen some artists depict it as Shinjiro telling Jin he should determine what life personally means to him, and not just rely on Takaya’s meaning. (Again, this is the point of the novel.)
Based on the P3 manga, Jin sees a parallel between himself and Shinji because they’re both doomed and meant to live alone. But I think Jin’s respect for him in SC may come from how they’re both responsible for other’s wellbeing. I’ve seen art depicting Shinjiro and Jin hanging out on the back-alley stairs either 1. discussing this similarity, or 2. “busting each other’s chops”; but that’s probably all fan-content. Overall, I think their potential dynamic is interesting and wish it was in the game.

Other trivia I’ve taken from the novel is that all of Strega may have some markings due to their artificial personas. They’re translated as “birthmarks” but described more as “scars”. Chidori has two parallel vertical lines on her back. Saya points this out, saying that princesses are actually angels who have to remove their wings (?) according to her dad. Takaya’s tatoos cover his scars. I don’t know if Jin is addressed, but I’ve seen headcanons of burns on his neck or arms.
Chidori comes off like a little sister in SC due to her demanding nature. She also doesn’t like Izumi because she finds him flirty (sound familar as to how she treated Junpei). But she is nice to Saya. Not much I’ve seen about Takaya, but his depictions are as chill as ever; This matches the new scenes of him in Reload. But he is also a little playful.
A lot of Jin fan work (including the P3P anthology "Strega Days") depicts him as having a more “childish” view towards girls. I think this aligns with some of the things he says in the 1st chapter. I’m not sure how to explain this, but for clarification I would not call it misogynistic.

Strega definitely seem more rounded in SC than their one-track mindsets in canon. Any other information on Shinji, Ken, or Akihiko you will have to read the linked review for more information. That's the only place I've been able to find further on them.
After a couple hours of typing this, I think it's cumulative enough. Hope this was interesting and you learned something new :)
