i get your point, bcs over the years i've realized that the emk shippers i see interacting aren't really emk shippers? just a bunch of multishippers who passively ship emk, and most of them use and weaponize emk as well bcs it's the "implied masspopular ship" and of course they won't engage in ship discourse with fucking ysr or some payola like that, and the generalization begins and our image ends in the trenches bcs these people make us look bad for whatever stupid-ass discourse they have.
wlw spaces have always been like this, where people are constantly switching ships and jumping on the new shiny toy, and a ship's fanbase is never stable. actually meaningful pairings get forgotten and their dynamics distorted bcs who will keep talking about them? it is really sad, i don't yearn for wlw spaces to be like mlm ones, but what is the point of talking about something if it feels like talking to the void?, the way some mlm shippers are so loyal to their ships and keep talking no matter what is impressive.
also the way even the wlw community sees emk as something demonic, in the sense that idk to some of them it is evil and vile to want to monoship and enjoy emk as a single ship, and if you don't like whatever wlw pair they pull out of their ass then you are the worst human alive. it's weird, they have the concept of people having different tastes and preferences as something inherently bad, and they made it look like disliking the most random pair is something sinful. it's really annoying, this policing attitude towards openly disliking things, like it has gotten worse over the years bcs i remember people openly shitting on ysr and esr but well i can't say nothing bad happened bcs we know those freaks harass and doxx people for disliking their ship.
but anyway, i understand you bcs i've thought the same, shipping spaces has never been for me but i'm so attached to emk that there's nothing i can do, they make me so happy and that's what i focus on
i am also way too attached to them like FAWKKK its just way too conflicting bcs on one hand i want to continue talking about them bcs literally no one else does but on the other hand this fandom is built like that, i literally only trust like 5 people and they are OOMFS…. i am putting a blame on hsr existence for reshaping the wlw shippers bcs now its just a putiana assembly with zero value or interest going on and on top of that we have way more manufactured discourses its completely insufferable on here. with eimiko it just gets infinitely sadder bcs literally what other ship has potential or material like them and all of that just gets WASTED… both in the underrated sense but also their shippers dont know shit about them and majorly here only for yuri points like god, sometimes it rly feels like they dont like them. aside from bunch of other wlw shipdoms that openly dislike them like lol we are very unique in this sense. all smartys have left the fandom in the distant 2022, now its just a parade of passive shippers and clout chasers, people who weaponize them in said meaningless discussions, with a concentration of actual enjoyers being like 3% at best. so as always i will just try to think positively aka give up on the hopes of having a functional, even if small but FUNCTIONAL, fandom, and just cope for hyv canon food. nothing else
