Hi there! Are there any skills or prerequisite requirements for those applying for mod positions? If so, what are they, for the different mod positions? i.e. who/what is the ideal candidate and what will their responsibilities be?

Hi!

For all positions, while experience moderating a zine isn't required, any experience in positions of authority for similar things like fests or non fandom related projects is very good. This doesn't have to be in the same role, however it's a bonus if it is. Having been a participant in multiple zines is also a plus.

For specific roles, this is all explained in the form for each position, but here it is as well.

Art mods need to have a decent grasp of anatomy, colour, and composition so they're able to make suggestions and give help to art contributors if asked. (examples of their own artwork can display this.) You'll also be expected to be the main point of contact for art contributors and to help keep the art contributor side of things organised and running smoothly.

Writing mods should preferably have some experience with beta reading/editorial work either in fandom or outside of it. Writing mods are expected to be fluent in written English as this is the language the zine is in, and able to give advice, when asked, on issues including grammar, story flow, plot, general writing help and beta reading, etc. You'll also be expected to be the main point of contact for writing contributors and to help keep the writing contributor side of things organised and running smoothly.

The Graphics and Layout Moderator is expected to be able to design and create the layout for the digital PDF of the zine. This includes putting the PDF together in it's final form and making any edits to the layout and contents within. You will also be expected to help create graphics to be posted on social media to help promote the zine including things such as but not limited to:
- interest check results
- contributor apps
- contributor list
- guest spotlights
- contributor spotlights
- mod intros
- pre-orders
