i have been thinking for HOURS about what ship could match this becuase this is such a good dynamic!! i love this idea of them drifting together and seeing the inside of each other's minds and knowing each other inside out but neither of them being able to really trust it until they hear it from the other, you know?

like... maybe the way they're at is working for now, and they don't wanna break it bc the end of the world; what good can love hold if you risk the fate of humanity for it?

or that's just the excuse they tell themselves, to counter their fear: what if they read it wrong? what if they're projecting? what if they're just looking at a refracted mirror of themselves in the drift, and getting /their/ feelings sent back to them.

SO MUCH WORRYING! when the love they need is right there and EVERYONE can see it???

Anyway I think this fits tskym weirdly well. There's this level of artifice that both of them have that they need to break down, but this innate kind of trust and a bond formed over years that they're both incredibly used to. In my heart, Yamaguchi thinks that Tsukishima is still the cool Pilot Trainee who convinced him to join the Academy together, and Tsukishima believes that one day Yamaguchi will find a better partner out there.
