bc im curious, do balder and dimas' names have any particular meaning behind them? (if youve already answered this before WHOOPS SORRY)
NO YOURE OKAY,,, balder doesn’t really have a reason i just knew he wouldn’t have traditional au ra lore and i’m a slut for mythology so it’s just a respelling of baldr/baldur
dimas’ name means sunset depending on if you use the greek translation or not and i think it fits him very well because of the sunset color scheme and his story is all about endings and new beginnings

I see you're having dimastinien thoughts again SO!! being who they are, obviously both dimas and estinien get into some dangerous situations. has there ever been a time where one was afraid for the other's life?? and how did they handle it both during the situation and afterwards??

but yes! dimas in particular was during heavensward when nidhogg possessed estinien’s body. this was fresh off losing ysayle (someone who became his closest friend, he would consider her a sister) and the weight was just too heavy. he didn’t know the effect of it on estinien’s body and it terrified him to no end. he didn’t necessarily handle it well but he recklessly put himself forward to save him.
estinien was the most afraid before shadowbringers when dimas got pulled to the first by exarch. it was literally their first night ~together~ and dimas just collapsed and wouldn’t wake up. it terrified him. estinien didn’t know what to do. those weeks that balder went to and from the source, he always waited for news and it was the only linkshell he ever wanted to listen to.

honestly their first official date was kind of awkward because they both tried to do something “traditional”, so they got dinner at the forgotten knight and tried to talk to each other before estinien makes dimas laugh and dimas goes “hey let’s just get out of here.”
estinien definitely takes dimas across the rooftops of ishgard to his favorite view, where they eat their to-go food and drink something warm and realize this is where they want to be
as for who asks; it’s estinien. it’s definitely estinien and it’s because alphinaud had not so subtly revealed dimas’ huge embarrassing crush to him and estinien was pleased as a peach to hear it

im running out of altan lore but I think he loves being friends with balder!! Since they both cook, what would balder bring to a potluck?
PLEA I LOVE ALTAN SOOOO MUCH
balder would cook three things: something light and easy like a nice salad with homemade vinaigrette (probably made with rolanberry) for people that don’t like spices too much, a coerthan meat pie full of dalmascan spices & buttery crisp crust, and then a dessert! he would probably do some pastries that are filled with a flowery sweet filling that’s decorated like a moogle

tbh neither of them would settle down! balder is too tied to the job of being the wol and dimas is just too energetic and curious about the world to keep himself in one place. i think the only way either of them would settle is if their partner wanted to.

i'd like to know more about balder!! what was he like growing up? and what's his family like? :^)
awww balder was honestly a little sweetheart growing up until his teens. he was adopted by a miqo woman and an elezen woman in coerthas after his parents were murdered. they are extremely protective but loving, and tried to hide him from temple knights when they came to their inn because they were afraid of how they would treat balder. in his teens, balder resented that and often snuck out to cause trouble with his childhood friend vaaska (a female hroth who was the daughter of the stablehands)
they would sometimes sneak into ishgard and scare people before balder got into big trouble and almost bought the farm because of it. he was spared by edmont, who balder didn’t know at the time was the one who saved him, and he ran off back home never to cause trouble again.
he was always studious thanks to his mother dula schooling him due to her noble history that she denounced, and his mother celeste taught him how to shoot a bow and arrow so he could help people if needed when he got older. he loved to climb trees and explore ruins and learn, but when he was finally old enough to leave home, he did, and his title of the warrior of light came swiftly after

what would balder and dimas' typical "inventory" look like? what things do they always keep on them?
balder never leaves without the book he’s reading, a water skin with water, a second water skin with rolanberry tea, and a small handful of potions to replenish his aether bc it gets low sometimes after endwalker!
dimas however always has a full knapsack with scholastic books he’s “borrowed”, letters from estinien, bundles of food given to him from people he’s helped, glamor prisms, extra socks, and dalmascan spices for when the food is extra bland

does dimas find himself drawn to any particular climate or weather? :^) (and if he does, how does he deal with it if he finds himself in a climate he just DOES NOT like?)
dimas is from a very rigid and cold climate in the mountains so he’s acclimated to that kind of weather! when he moved to rabanatre and then sharlyan, he had an extremely hard time adjusting to the climate. he doesn’t do well in warm weather still. when the gang went to ishgard, he felt right at home again and cursed that they had to go to the far east right after 😭

DIMAS LOVES FUCKIN PURMPLE BABEY!!! purple is just his color but for balder, he loves a deep green because it reminds him of how lush coerthas used to be, and he’s a big fan of nature so anything that reminds him of trees he loves
