I wouldn't say they never last, but I think it has to do with how we change as we age. We often outgrow each other and that's okay! I love the media trope because when both people have experience love and loss, it just hits so much when they let themselves be vulnerable and fall in love again knowing it could end but giving it a chance anyways.
