my answer is so fawking late omgg but i would love to introduce them to plantains, kala, and liberian doughnuts (not the traditional kind). i would definitely give them the plantains with some texture bc the fried mushy ones are booty (i'm a hater idc). also kala is this fried ball of dough and can technically be eaten with savory foods or by itself but it's so good alone :> doughnuts are also made from dough but instead of being in a circle, it's made by twisting it, frying, and covering it in a cinnamon/sugar mixture immediately after. it's teww good 🤰🏾 these are my fave foods/sweets if that wasn't obvious already DHSJDJD i love them soso much and i would love if they got to taste some of it aaaa
OOF so many tbh but I think a few would be:
Personal - Lotus Biscoff spread, tried it once now jam and peanut butter don't hit the same anymore
Regional - I think our Malaysian instant noodles, specifically this one brand of Penang white curry mee (the secret is we use both powder and paste for extra flavor), and also this sweet snack called apam balik, similar to their hotteok but instead of cinnamon and nuts we have peanuts, corn, butter, and sugar
Cultural - the CNY snacks for us Malaysian-Chinese like pineapple tarts and barbeque pork sheets and all the hundreds of other snacks and biscuits we have available during the holiday
