ooh good question!! for ophelia, she and lurantis are more like best friends, rather than teammate and trainer! to keep lurantis' colors vibrant and healthy, ophelia takes lurantis along with her (almost) wherever she goes so lurantis can soak up the warm alolan sun. penelope is similar, but she holds a great amount of respect for lunatone and usually keeps it in its ball during the day. penelope almost treats lunatone like an elder, teaching lunatone and listening when it tries to communicate with her.
