i didn't used to, but i'm realising it does actually make life a lot easier, so
when i have an idea i write it down and then usually try to make an outline, starting with the scenes and lines i've already got in my head - and then i fill the rest in. usually once i start it comes pretty easily to build the base for the fic and i just go from there!
it's easier because then i get to just write without really having to think about what to do next and then overthink what i've already written, you know?
