it feels a bit disingenuous to reduce how negatively you spoke about gyuvin to “making a comment a year ago” when you were publicly liking your friend’s anti-gyuvin retrospring asks a little more than half a year ago - the same friend who also used their VERY public dislike of gyuvin to create borderline bully x victim scenarios in regard to gyuvin and taerae’s relationship.
i also don’t know why you’re projecting so much onto gyuvin and taerae’s relationship even now. you may have found the joke offensive, but taerae quite literally laughed at it as well. the implication that their relationship at the time was strained at all also doesn’t make sense to me, because nothing indicates that was the case. they still interacted on-screen like normal and were seen playing around a lot. it just feels like you’re projecting your for gyuvin onto taerae for whatever reason as if he’s some kind of self-insert character for you.
Someone actually did ask me about that at the time. I answered that I liked it because the main topic of the ask was the pervasive shitty way some gyubrik fans were portraying Ricky, in ways that he seemed clearly uncomfortable with. At the time there were even reports--possibly misinterpreted or with no proof--going around of fansigns/calls where fans had made Ricky uncomfortable by bringing up shipping terms and calling him a girl to his face. So that's what I was thinking about when I liked it.
You do also realize the guy in question is a writer, right? and even in the screenshots you have, he says things like he's just reaching and he doesn't want to make Gyuvin out to be evil. RPS writers in particular are always analyzing relationships in completely different ways and...that's the beauty of human opinion. We're all different and have different experiences to bring to the table. Some only want to focus on relationships that are perfect all the time, and that's great! Kpop RPF can be your happy place! Some people think diving into the complexities of human relationships is more interesting, and personally I also feel that way because real life relationships ARE complicated. That's why I brought up that Taerae has also talked about how his and Gyuvin's relationship wasn't always perfect, because it's a reminder that they're human too. Like, Taerae's also talked about what a journey it was to get close to Munjung and how much they fought!! and now Munjung is his absolute favorite person in the world! I don't hate someone for guessing that a relationship might be less than perfect because it happens! Often!!
So yes, I'm sure I'm projecting in some way, just like everyone in the world is projecting when they interpret other peoples' relationships. We all only live inside our own minds and are trying to understand each other. There's people I follow on twitter who don't like the way MY fave ships or MY fave boys interact with others or interpret them in ways I personally never would and never would read. And that's okay!!! You can click out of fics, you can scroll past people, you can block them if you really need to keep your peace!
Which also, the mindset of damn I really hate this person and have them and all their friends blocked, let's go see what they are saying today--I truly don't get why you would waste your time and disrupt your own peace like that??? Are we not on kpop twitter to have a good time and talk about eating Taerae or is that just me???
Anyways, idk if you're the same person but I do appreciate you actually talking to me, even if you don't agree.
