Yeah i kinda feel the same, when you grow older you just don't have the time or desire to watch or learn anything new. Probably because you start to understand how valuable the time is? /gens
Now i just watch a shit ton of cartoons at the same time and barely finishing any of them. I think watamote and welcome to the NHK will be a perfect series for you since it has similar topics to paranoia agent

i wouldn't say it's a time management thing for me more so than just an autism one? i get very easily overstimulated and mentally drained by most things that haven't already been processed by me to some extent... so my brain tends to function better on patterns of stimuli that seem highly related or almost equal to my preferences and sifts through information that way to basically preserve itself
i've actually watched welcome to nhk before... i don't remember much about it but i know it's not too similar to paranoia agent, just somewhat psychological and emotional
i found ergo proxy to be more akin to paranoia agent with its gloomy atmosphere and psychological surrealism but nothing has really come close to paranoia agent's genius for me since i first watched it
... and yeah, tone tags are actually kind of appreciated! i often have quite a bit of trouble sensing someone's attitude through very short text messages, but deliberate and detailed wording is usually enough... it's not offensive or anything tho, i feel like a dumb confused baby most of the time anyway lol
